One of the worst customer service experiences – and it’s consistent.
I live just 5 minutes away from D Spot in Heartland, and yet I avoid going there at all costs. Unfortunately, I had to go yesterday purely because it was one of the few dessert places open late. Every time I walk in, I’m met with staff who look visibly annoyed or bothered – it’s like you’re inconveniencing them by showing up.
Last night was just the final straw. The waitress who greeted us led us to a table, but instead of properly cleaning it, she literally just moved the dirty used glasses and plates from our table onto the one next to it without wiping anything down. She then told us to sit there. I’m sorry, but if your staff is too busy to clean a table before seating guests, maybe hire more people to help. Basic etiquette shouldn’t be too much to ask for.
When we brought it up with another staff member (who was at least polite), the waitress brushed it off and said, “I didn’t do it, just clean it up.” Honestly, wow. Not expecting five-star service here, but at the very least, guests should feel welcomed – not like a burden.
Every time I’ve been to this location, I already brace myself for the staff’s sour attitudes. I’m someone who always leaves a tip no matter what – but this place doesn’t deserve a single cent for the kind of service they offer.
What’s even more shocking is how this place keeps getting good reviews. I genuinely don’t understand how – maybe I’m just consistently unlucky, but the lack of basic hospitality is hard to ignore.
All I ask is that you treat your guests rightfully – or at the very least, respectfully. Sadly, that seems like too much to expect here. And this time I had to write because of us getting seated on a...
Read moreWe’ve frequented this location for as long as I can remember. Family day, we went for dessert. Swing by the restaurant at 1:05. We were the first customer. Took awhile for our server to finally get to our table. Finally as my son and my daughter were relaying our orders, my son requested 5 glasses of water for the table and much to our surprise, they said they don’t serve tap water. They do have bottled water for purchase. Isn’t water a basic right in this country. Why won’t a dessert/cafe not serve tap water instead offer a bottle water for purchase ?!! Seriously ?!!!
We ordered 2 black coffee ( since there is only bottled water available instead of tap water) earl grey, London fog, English toffee latte, dark chocolate and pistachio croffle and hit d’spot. It took awhile for the dessert to arrive understandably since hit d’spot might take a while. After waiting for 20ish minutes l, it finally arrived. It was good. We wait again for my son and my daughter’s croffle to share, nothing.
Finally my son called the attention of our server and ask if it’s gonna take a while for the croffle to arrive, because we were actually in a bit of a hurry (our hit d spot is almost done, and it’s just me and my husband sharing it and we took our time eating it).
Our server apologized. I know that it’s not his fault. There might have been some miscommunication or the order was not passed on to the kitchen ( but so you know, he wrote it down in a small notebook! )
We are a family who has always been loyal to the restaurant we’ve grown accustom to but I honestly believe this branch of d’spot has deteriorated in terms of service.
Not sure we’d ever come back. 1st the water and then the service. So...
Read moreI’ve been to D Spot many times over the years because my kids love it and we live near by. It’s definitely a treat for them. However bad the service is. On a good day, they are Okay.
Our latest dine in experience took the cake (pun intended) for being the worst service I’ve ever experienced!
We sat down around 6:45 pm in a Saturday night. There were 5 of us and we ordered, 3 poutines, coke, 2 specialty drinks/shakes, a burger, pasta, and a cake.
The server, came back 2 times to confirm what we ordered. We asked her, why don’t you write it down?
There was NO water at the table. We had to ask for it multiple times. It arrived in 1 hour and there were floaty bits in it so we couldn’t drink it. We had to ask for the pop that also didn’t come until 45 min in.
Rough time-line of the food/drink arrival: 30 min - 2 specialty drinks 40 min - 2 poutines 45 min - can of pop 50 min - burger (gross & did not eat) 55 min - cold poutine (my daughter ate anyways because she was starving) 1 hour - gross water 1hr 15min - We ask to cancel the rest of the order and speak to the manager
The server said “I’m sorry but it’s not my fault. There is no Manager here and no one you can speak to.”
I admit I was Hangry, since none of my food came at all. So my response was as polite as I could muster.
We paid for some items, and a couple of us got food else where — California sandwiches next door and Seafood City hot bar. My Pancit Bihon was delicous.
It was a terrible family dinner, if you can call it dinner without food or even water.
