i recently visited matari coffee and had a generally pleasant experience. the staff was incredibly friendly, especially the barista who took the time to patiently explain their recommended coffee and tea options. they didn’t rush me while i made my choice, which felt really considerate. i decided on a large adeni and found it to be delicious—wonderfully flavorful and warm, exactly how i like it. the menu also features a variety of teas and desserts, so there’s definitely something for everyone. one convenient perk is that they stay open until midnight, which makes it a nice spot for late-night drinks. however, it was quite cold inside, which was a bit unexpected given the warmer weather now and the large number of people present.
what really stood out to me was how extremely crowded and lively it gets here, even well into the night. i arrived around 9pm and found it nearly full until almost 11:30pm, with families and small kids staying pretty late too. it took me around half an hour to find a seat, which could be frustrating if you’re in a hurry or need a quiet corner to focus. the high volume of customers contributed to a very loud atmosphere—honestly, it felt more like a club than a coffee shop. the music was turned up so high that it became challenging to chat with friends or get any work done. on top of that, the staff, although very friendly, seemed understaffed. the bathroom was in need of attention, with the garbage bin overflowing, and tables weren’t always cleared. i completely understand they’re busy behind the counter, but a bit more help would definitely improve the overall experience. despite these minor inconveniences, i found the coffee to be wonderful and the service very kind, which, for me, made the...
Read moreMississauga so needed a nice Coffee and Tea Cafe where one can enjoy Yemeni Coffee and sweet treats.
It’s the whiff of the coffee that pulls you in and then you are in a trance till your orders arrive.
We went on a Monday evening and it was packed. There is quiet a bit of seating but despite that I can expect on weekends there would be no seating.
The ambiance and the decor inside is phenomenal. Very tastefully done.
Then comes there huge menu of different versions of coffee where I am assuming the coffee beans are fresh ground and they are mixed with different spices like nutmeg, cardamom etc. I saw a lot of carnation milk being used as we were seated right near where they prepare the orders. What I liked about the menu was it tells you what is inside the coffee so you donot get a Surprise after ordering.
The honeycomb bread which is topped with honey was so delicious as it has a stuffing of cheese with a hint of saltiness and then the sweetness from the honey. Goes great with the coffee’s
Service is a little slow but donot forget each order is prepared fresh and customized to your liking.
Price point of view a little high but this is no ordinary coffee and tea place.
I did see many Yemeni people in the cafe so it definitely must be authentic!
Will definitely be coming back to try more things offered on the menu.
Caution: the coffee’s prepared here are extremely hot so as soon as you get it one cannot sip it right away. Just for your information the name Matari is a Mountain region for Coffee in Yemen -...
Read moreAvoid Matari Coffee at All Costs!
If I could give zero stars, I would. Every single time I’ve gotten a to-go coffee from Matari, the drink spills in my car. Not once, not twice, but EVERY time. It’s infuriating, and it’s clearly a recurring issue with their packaging (cups and lids) or handling.
I’m the type of person who doesn’t like to leave bad reviews. I genuinely enjoy supporting businesses and giving them the benefit of the doubt, but this was the last straw—I couldn’t handle it anymore. The final incident came when I approached their supervisor, Aziz, to address this issue. Rather than offering an apology or showing even a shred of accountability, he arrogantly said, “What will an apology do? Will it fix the issue?” His dismissive attitude was shocking and completely unacceptable.
When I told him, “You’ve lost a customer,” he simply didn’t care. He coldly responded, “You can go wherever you want,” as if my business meant nothing to him. Instead of trying to resolve the problem, he grabbed three cups to “prove” there wasn’t an issue and then had the nerve to ask, “Do you want a free coffee?”—as if that would magically erase the frustration of their constant incompetence.
Well, I will go elsewhere, and I strongly urge anyone reading this to do the same. Matari Coffee doesn’t care about its customers or their experience. They lack basic respect and professionalism. Save your money and your sanity—avoid...
