Returning to Red Lobster
Last night, at 8:00 pm, my son and I went in to Red Lobster at 790 Burnhamthorpe Rd West, in Mississauga Ontario, Canada
From the very professional hostess, who warmly greeted us, to the person who seated us, to the fantastic waitress we had (Kimberley!), before we ordered our food, we were impressed with the high level of excellent customer service.
Enter 'Kimberley!'
If you have read any of my other Restaurant Reviews, you will know that I am what people euphemistically refer to as a 'Foodie!' Not only am I a 'Foodie,' I am a huge fan of great service!'
If this 'Foodie' moniker was something that I might ever be paid to do, then I really should be considered a 'Professional Foodie!'
However, proper compensation for my 'Foodie-ness' has not yet been realized, to the point where 'compensation,' has ever been offered! But I digress! đ
Kimberley was an exceptionally positive, polite, well informed, professional Waitress, and in terms of me being a huge fan of great service - if there was a 'Hall of Fame for Great Wait Staff,' Kimberley would get my vote for immediate induction!
My son and I only had one hour to 'eat, pay, leave,' which I communicated to Kimberley - who then took a few moments to consider our request, to which she thoughtfully replied: "Yes, we can do that! You will be out of here by 9!"
Having not been to Red Lobster for over 20 years, I found myself to be very impressed with the wonderful food photography on the menu - which carried with it the very real possibility of me being inspired to order WAY TOO MUCH FOOD - however, a quick read of my 'food delirium,' and Kimberley quickly began to make recommendations that helped me to narrow my choices, and was she ever good at her job!
Kimberley told us that she had worked at Red Lobster fo two years. She not only knew her craft, but as packed as her section was, she somehow made us feel that we were her only customers AND, not only did our food arrive quickly, perfectly prepared, HOT, and well presented, Kimberley was 'right there,' throughout our dinner, to insure that we were properly taken care of.
My son, Sabian and I, at the recommendation of Kimberley, ordered (each) two Lobster Tails, that came perfectly prepared, along with a very delicious, double order of Coconut Shrimp.
We elected to have the double order of Coconut Shrimp, as a replacement for the Crab Claws that were pictured in the photograph - again, at Kimberley's recommendation. I also had a small Caesar Salad as an appetizer, which was delicious.
At the end of our meal, the Red Lobster Restaurant Manager stopped by to ask how we enjoyed our food?
Leanne Lafleur is not only a very good Manager, like Kimberley, she is a very nice person, that clearly enjoys what she does!
I do have to admit, as we got to know Leanne, two facts came to light - one of which gave rise to great 'consternation!'
Leanne is a distant relative of the highest scoring player to ever wear a Montreal Canadiens Hockey Jersey. Leanne is also a huge fan of 'Les Habs!' This second fact created a certain degree of 'competitive tension,' as we are life long fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs! Leafs will win the Stanley Cup in 2024! You actually read it here first! But once again, I digress! đ
Despite the fact that Leanne is a Habs Fan, I can overlook this negative sports anomaly and focus on two distinct and serious facts:
Red Lobster is an excellent restaurant that I highly recommend!
If you are a fan of great service and well managed restaurants, Red Lobster checks all the boxes, in the most positive way! (Despite Leanne Lafleur's truly unfortunate loyalty to Les Habitants! đ)
I highly recommend that you check out this Red Lobster, request to be seated in Kimberley's section, tip her well, and make sure you speak to Leanne Lafleur before you leave, to truly understand what a great Restaurant Manager she is!

EDIT: I got overcharged on some items. They were different than the menu price. This is disappointing. I tipped 18% on this inflated bill too. I have to check the receipt more carefully before I exit. Consider sending a complaint to head office. Good food ruined by dishonest billing.
EDIT 2: I called in to this location on this same day, provided my receipt check number [also logged in my personal tracking Excel], spoke to the manager, she resolved this over charge in less than 10 minutes. Should be coming to my credit card bill in ~7 days, should be $40 total ($25 + $15). Overall, the food was good. Just hope the billing is consistent with the menu prices in the future.
12Sept23 checked card statement account, the $40 cleared.
Great visit. Came with family of 4. Had the seafood stuffed mushrooms as appetizer, and pina colada for H and mango martini for S/L. Seafood mushrooms were great, lots of cheese and shrimp on my mushrooms. Creamy garlicky, buttery goodness. Pina colada was good, mango martini was too bitter (probably cuz of the lime) and sickly sweat - so don't order that drink again.
S and L had the create your own combination - garlic shrimp, scallops (fried), and shrimp linguini alfredo (scampi). Then added a Maritime (Maine) lobster and a Carribean Rock lobster (only comes in tails, this style of lobster has tiny claws. And the meat is tougher, and less sweet than Maritime lobster. I think this was only more expensive cuz of seasonality/rareness. The Carribean rock lobster is firmer, grainer, and has a brinier flavour. Vs the Maine lobster which is more delicate in both flavour and texture, with a sweet, clean flavour). It was +$20 and +$28 respectively, this was actually quite pricy. Side was coleslaw - good.
H had the create your own combination: shrimp linguini alfredo (scampi), coconut shrimp (just meh), grilled tilapia (just meh - small, slightly bitter tangy fish). Side was mashed potato - good.
We've concluded we like: garlic shrimp, scallops (fried), and shrimp linguini alfredo (scampi) the most.
I had the endless shrimp promo that was going on in late August/September. I had some sweet chili shrimp (great, limited time flavour, nice spicy tangy, sweet shrimp served on a bed of coleslaw), shrimp skewers, shrimp linguini alfredo (scampi), garlic shrimp, coconut shrimp (meh, but bigger shrimp, good coconut flavours if you like coconut and still better than Walt's fav shrimp) and Walt's fav shrimp (the worst. No flavour, and bad texture fried shrimp). Overall a great experience, the whole family knows what they like to eat here, and it was consistently good. Service on my shrimp could have been faster (Ex: I was waiting for my shrimp scampi for a very long time, and it was served near the end. Whatever. I still got to try all the types of shrimp and they were to my expectations). In order, I liked: garlic shrimp, shrimp linguini alfredo (scampi), sweet chili shrimp (limited time flavour), shrimp skewers (dipped in garlic shrimp sauce), coconut shrimp, and lastly Walt's favourite shrimp (never order...
Read moreto my fellow folks, be honest with you, I understand all restaurants wants big orders and good tips. I have to honour your food quality as 5 stars. However, misleading in advertising is a big red flag ! that loblster tail you served me. I dont know how to upload the picture , may insult your practice. Certainly , I am not ordering from Red Lobster restaurant .,Mississauga. Canana. Is this enough info for you to file it, when times comes to bankruptcy claims protection. The focus is here, this restaurant CHEATS customers with posters of big fat juicy lobsters on the plate. In reality ,you receive a " under adult sized " sorry to describe them as " caught a lobster teenager " and put on my order. Disgustuisting practice. Please expect the upcomimg bankruptch claims soon. It is OK to CHEAT customers ,took advantage as July the 4th. gatherings of members of family and friends ,south of the border. Today, we are all living under great STRESS, these rare gathering at Red Lobster restaurant in Mississauga ,Ontario , likely ,the "last / FAREWELL" as President Trump may not allow some members of my family to reenter USA. Being framed for all kinds of fake crimes.Do you know how we actually feel as we swallow your under-sized lobster dinner to celebrate July the 3rd , tomorrow is July the 4th. I hope someone with administrative power reads my feedbck. You care about the profit, a big dinner gathering, bills are paid. but as you aware that we are all human, we have one thing in common is called intelligence. Knowing that my family gathering ,may be the :" LAST " under Trump administrtion, upon comming home, we began to discuss how we felt ,being served. service by 10 staffs are wonderful, I paid good tip. but reflected on the quality of food ...........felt being cheated. Is the JULY the 4 th , a day ,resturants can cheat clients ? the answer is YES. However, you lose on client at a time over years........leading to bankruptcy, blame who? I know what to blame , the GREED. wants fast cash return ! That is the real problem for a hugh chain to fail. Allow me to place a bet, this practice will fail after Christmas 2025.
