This place deserves a zero. I went there today with my five year old son. I was pleasantly surprised that we got a table fairly quickly. The waitress, Tricia, I believe, came to take our drink order. I ordered my coffee which she brought, without cream or sugar. She was nowhere to be found, so I got up and took it from another table. After twenty minutes, TWENTY minutes with a hungry five year old child, she finally came to take our order.
I saw her and another waitress walking by me serving other customers, refilling coffee, and no one EVER came to ask me a thing. No problem, I got up, and poured myself more coffee from the coffee station....TWICE. When I told both waitresses that I had to do that, one ignored me, and the other said " we are short staffed", and had no concern whatsoever for me, the paying customer.
I can appreciate and understand the challenges of being short staffed, as I have worked in the service industry as a waitress and bartender for many years. However, firstly, if I am witnessing the wait staff serving everyone but me, there is clearly something wrong, and secondly, quite frankly it is not the customer's problem that they are short staffed.
A table of three that sat beside me, arrived twenty minutes later and got their plates of food before me. So I mentioned this to the other waitress, and she apologized and brought my food. I was happy about that. However, after this point, I saw no one. Not one person came to my table to do anything, so we waited, and waited and waited and waited. The bus girl didn't clear our plates, so I placed them on the table she was clearing, to which the other waitress gave me some kind of sarcastic comment. The bus boy reached down behind our table to get a high chair, and swung it over our heads and table to give to another table, and swung it back over our heads to put it back. Honestly, has anyone trained these people?
Tricia, by the way, came to another table where a couple had finished their meal, gave them their bill, and told them she deducted something since the service was so slow. I heard her apologize so many times. When I expressed my concerns to her at the end of the meal about our service, she said " well I had other customers to serve and we are short staffed". I don't want a discount, but at least have some conscience about how you are treating us!When I went to the front desk to pay, I told all staff who were there, that this was the worst service I had ever received in my life. They gave each other looks as though I was some kind of crazy woman. I have a policy to give 20% tip no matter what, and if there is something less than acceptable, then I will go down to 15%. For the first time in my life, I gave no tip. I will never in my life go back to this restaurant. Whoever the owner or manager is you clearly do not know how to run a business.
ADDED AFTER OWNER's RESPONSE and by the way, your "canned" response is so meaningless. look at all of the bad reviews! i don't really care, just as you seem to not care, and your staff most definitely do not care, because i will simply not be back, and will advise all friends not to come back. good luck with your business. you're going to need it. maybe you should go to the sunset grill on mississauga road to see how they organize and...
Read moreI have been to this location numerous times over the past 7 years and on March 16th my sister, nephew and I had breakfast there before heading to Buffalo. We ordered 2 kids breakfast with turkey bacon, 3 egg special with turkey bacon, 2 coffee's and 1 orange juice. I went to the cash register to pay and my bill was over $60.00. I questioned the bill as I thought it was really expensive for what we ordered. I have no problem paying for what I eat but this seemed really expensive. The gentleman behind the counter turned the bill around and stated what we ordered and I said yes but at no time indicated the price. I paid the bill and was not asked if I wanted my receipt. I knew I had the charge in my account as I paid debit. After really thinking about it I decided to download the menu and realized I was definitely overcharged. Since I was in Buffalo I decided to go in the next day. I explained what happened and the man behind the register asked where my receipt was. I told him I wasn't given one and showed him my purchase on my account. I explained what we had and said I was overcharged. He was reluctant to believe me and so I said if you have cameras then please pull the tape. They said they would contact me today. Today I was asked to go back in where the server who happened to be the owner showed me a video of me at the cash register questioning my bill. I had already explained that to her and indicated the gentleman only went over what we had which was correct. I told her to please pull her debit receipt from yesterday and she will see exactly what I was showing her on my account. She then decided to add everything we ate again and as the owner had to ask what the price of a kids breakfast was. She then proceeded to tell me turkey bacon was more and I indicated that was no on the menu and was never mentioned. I again said this was never charged extra any other time. She said it was and everyone knows it is extra and doesn't need to be on the menu. She also proceeded to tell me this menu came from head office. I told her due to my religion I could not have pork and she indicated she has many Muslim clients who know it is an extra charge. She also proceeded to tell me that it is why the previous owners were out of business. Completely unprofessional!!! She ended up giving me back the difference but I was made to feel like a lying client. I then told her that we wouldn't have been in this position if it wasn't a mistake in their part. Instead of agreeing a mistake happened she then indicated she didn't know what we had and couldn't agree but it was over. Seriously why didn't you review the camera footage that shows what we had then? Might I add she showed me a debit receipt but really how do you do your accounting?? Beware of your bill and if you decide to dine there make sure you ask if anything is extra because apparently you...
Read moreI was extremely dissatisfied with my experience here.
To start, the service was extremely disappointing. I was meeting a friend for lunch and wanted to order for them as they only had a 20 minute lunch break. When I asked to order my waitress told me to wait so she could take another tables order that came in after I was seated. I said no I was sitting first and I am in a rush. My waitress scrunched up her face and said well and pointed to the other table. She said you are still waiting on someone I said yes and I would like to order for them as they only have a short lunch break and she was still reluctant to come over, as if I was bothering her by asking her to take my order.
I always get the same meal when I come, however this time I thought I would try something else. I got the three eggs, home fries and turkey bacon. The homefries tasted old, like they were left from a day or two before. My turkey bacon was undercooked and I sent it back to be cooked more. When it was brought back to me it was rubber, I could barely chew it. Part way through my scrambled eggs there was a piece of hard black plastic the size of a nickel. I could not eat the rest of my meal after that so I sent it back.
When I went to pay the lady asked me how it was and I told her it was not very good and that I was disappointed and explained why. She said oh sorry. Nothing else. The plastic in my eggs was not addressed not even a 5 or 10 percent discount for the inconvenience. I still paid full price for a meal that was not cooked properly and has plastic in it that I couldn’t even eat.
I told the lady I had to now go somewhere else and get food because of what was in my meal and she just giggled and said oh sorry.
This location has the worst customer service I have ever experienced at a Sunset Grill and I will definitely not be returning. I DO NOT recommend this location to anyone. Pick any of the other restaurants in the complex.
There is no option for 0 star rating, but that is what I would...
