A Tremendous disappointment!

A friend recommended this place as having the best Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls, so I figured I'd give them a try. Wanting to try a few other dishes, the restaurant suggested their Lemon Chicken and Cantonese Chow Mein were very popular, so I ordered them as well.

First thing I tasted were their (10 pieces) chicken balls. I disowned the friend who recommended them to me. These were probably the worst chicken balls I've ever had. At least 60% was batter that was undercooked, with just a small piece of chicken in the middle (see photo). These were not even close to the actual best chicken balls I've ever had from King Asian (Hurontario & King) that are double the size and less than 10% batter. They also give you 10 huge balls that cost much less than these small over-battered and undercooked chicken balls that they charged me a ridiculous $19.20 for.

Next I tried their $20.40 popular Chow Mein. The portion was surprisingly big, but sadly all the proteins except for the shrimp were inedible. The calamari was like chewing thick rubber, and the rest of the meats were the fattiest, chewiest and lowest quality cuts of meat you can get. It was like I was chewing on leather. Aside from the shrimp, I had to spit out all the rest after chewing forever and unable to break the meat down enough to swallow. It was gross to say the least, and that dish is barely worth $5, let alone what I paid for it.

Finally, I had their Lemon Chicken - the best and only edible of their three entrees. I will say I was really impressed with the huge portions of battered chicken meat for $21.50. But the big portions couldn't make up for the lack of taste; without the sauce, it was just un-flavorful dried chicken chunks wrapped in plain batter. Adding the sauce made the chicken a little moist, but I wasn't a fan of their lemon sauce. It was too bitter and tart compared to the usual sweet lemon sauce it's supposed to come with. The cooked Lemon Chicken at the self-serve buffet at T&T is 100x better, softer and much tastier with their sweet lemon sauce. Nevertheless, the impressive portion size is why I gave an extra star instead of the 1/5 stars I should've rated this restaurants food.

I won't be going back to this establishment again - it's way to overpriced for the quality and taste you get; the Chinese restaurants at food courts are better...

This is by far the worst experience I've had in a restaurant. The staff was extremely unprofessional when we confronted them about the stale food they served us. The waiter then told us that all the food is freshly made there prior to being served to each table. But, prior to our incident, we ordered (chicken fried rice, general Tao chicken and deep fried spicy jumbo shrimp) and within 2 minutes (literally) the food (not including thr shrimp) was at the table. The shrimp took 4 minutes to get to us. When the shrimp came to the table I immediately noticed the shrimp was old looking and white. So my boyfriend bit into it and spat is out. We called over the waiter to tell him politely that the shrimp was no good and we would like it taken off our bill to which he responded that all their food is made fresh. We told him that this was not fresh. Starting to get upset , he asked us if we would like to see a sample of the same batch of shrimp so we said fine sure. Thinking he would go to the back, he walked over to another table who had ordered the same shrimp, picked it up, and brought it to us to show that they looked the same. (The shrimp looked like it was night and day by the way)--(Who picks up food from anothet table to show another customer that they are the same? So the table beside us said it looked very different and we said the same. The server got upset and said if you don't like the food then don't come back lol. Which was not the case at all. We go there on a regular basis. (Sorry we didn't take a picture cause I really wish we did) but...what server tells a customer to not come back because of there wrong doing? You tried to sell us old shrimp!!

I use to work in a restaurant for over 10 yrs so I know what food should look like when it's fried fresh. So clearly he got upset because we uncovered the truth.

Moral of the story is, don't eat from this disgusting place. They try to resell stale food thinking you won't notice the difference. Real situations expose...

Born and raised in Mississauga I never got around to checking this place out but talk about first impressions WOW…

Firstly, the restaurant was dirty and very “let go of” looking so without a doubt I asked for take out but should have left instantly. The service was ok but the Interac was unavailable, cash & credit were only accepted which wasn’t too thrilling due to the service fee of three dollars to use the atm. Ok no problem, I was hungry and decided to bite the bullet… I opted to take out the $40 dollars from the ATM.

Immediately after I paid the cash tender my bill I went to wait on a chair situated at the front. As I scrolled through my phone I reached back in my pant pocket to pull out the $20 dollar bill I hadn’t used to better place in my wallet and it wasn’t there…??? The lady helping me coincidentally wasn’t around either…??? When I asked the cash tender where she went she came back and I approached her politely and asked how much change she gave me back and she replied to me in a very cynical fashion quote on quote “Maybe I had a long day”…as that’s what I told the cash tender when I told him that I had misplaced my change in the first place and was a little confused.

$20 dollars disappeared… not a single trace…??? Either I wasn’t paying attention when the ATM was spitting out the bills or I wasn’t paying attention to the change I received. Either way a very cryptic first and last experience lol… ironically the lady before me was complaining about her bill as well, some kind of misunderstanding that I didn’t catch on to but maybe should have been more attentive.

Lastly unto the food… an over abundance slop of noodles and been sprouts mixed with hardly any chicken lol. With no panic or distress in my demeanour I went back inside the restaurant and left an honest and sincere review about the food and my money disappearing with the cash tender. Judging by his looks he wasn’t taking my comment professionally at all…AVOID...

We eat Asian cuisine + dim sum once a week (cause we're obsessed). This place did not disappoint. We tried each of the dumplings: pork shiu Mai, fun gor, chives dumpling. The chives we didn't enjoy but more from a person preference then quality. Fun gor was good but nothing special (again based on preference), shiu Mai was great. All of them were very fresh and of high quality. The crispy pork spring rolls were the best we've ever had. The pork was extremely juicy and bursting with flavorful. Filled UP (they didn't skimp on filling) and not overly coated with fried wrapper. Amazing. A must. We loved all of our mains: General Tao chicken. Not overly spicy. Not overly deep fried. Chicken is soft and fresh. Sauce was flavorful and fresh. Sweet and sour shrimp may be one of the best we've ever had. Sauce is delicious and NOT artificial tasting. Shrimps are a good size and while they are fried, they're not deep fried. They're more fresh with a light coating. We weren't sure about this dish and it was incredible. Shanghai was solid. Fresh noodles, good flavor. Eggplant in meat sauce was delicious. Lots of eggplant, sauce is sweet and salty and has actual meat in it. We get this ar different places but it's normally sweet and the meat sauce was really good. Very flavorful. Sizzling beef with garlic. Meat was a bit tough but very good Overall phenomenal. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. Service was great. Super friendly. Very efficient. A must!

We ordered a dinner for six. I do recommend the egg drop soup and spicy squid. I wish I had ordered another plate of the squid dish. the saltiness and spiciness are perfectly balanced. We also recommend the crispy noodles. I wish there were more veggies. The chicken has a crispy skin but very dry in the inside. I was not able to eat the shrimp and tofu dish because it has so much saw, you can hardly see the shrimp. Fried rice was overflowing. It lacked flavour. I love veggies so you would definitely love beef and broccoli. Beef is tender and the broccoli chunks are huge. There is a lot of food and we were able to take out 6 boxes as well. We went here before dinner hours so not so busy. The lady who assisted or served us was very fast and efficient. I don't think this a place where you can eat and relax and talk to your friends after dinner. After eating, you will have a feeling that "okay you done eating, please pay and leave" vibes. If you are on a budget and would like to feed your friends and family, this is the place to be. Food is cheap and servings are big.
