A Hidden Gem for Authentic Malaysian Cuisine
I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance while scrolling through Google reviews during a road trip from New York to Nova Scotia. The uniquely Malaysian names on the menu immediately caught my attention—and I’m so glad they did. This place is a true gem. Yes, it’s Malaysian—not Chinese, not Indian—and the distinction is clear in the flavors. The food was exceptional: incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and seasoned with just the right balance of spice and oil. Unlike many Asian restaurants where dishes can be overly greasy or heavy, every plate here felt clean, light, and full of depth. The restaurant itself was spotless, which gave me immediate confidence in the kitchen and overall operation. Service was just as impressive—the staff were polite, warm, and attentive from beginning to end. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the heart behind it. I accidentally left my iPad behind, and the owner kindly came in outside of business hours just so I could retrieve it. During our short conversation, I was struck by her kindness, intelligence, and dedication to introducing authentic Malaysian cuisine to the local community. I left not only satisfied with an amazing meal, but also deeply appreciative of the hospitality and integrity. Highly recommended—for the food, for the service, and for the people who make this place special. I’ll absolutely be back if I pass by this...
Read moreOn a trip to east coast and after an over dose of seafood we decided to try our this place based purely on reviews. It was packed when we arrived at 7:30, glad we made a reservation before hand. We ordered their house lemon iced tea, and chrysanthemum tea. For appetizers we ordered beef satay and laksa soup with chicken. The food and drinks arrived very quickly. The beef satay was exceptional, as per our son who is kind of an expert on satay ;-) the peanut sauce was just perfect! the laksa was great too, it’s not too spicy certainly not as spicy as we had in Singapore. For mains we ordered Singapore noodles with chicken and nasi goreng (friend rice) with shrimp. They messed up the shrimp rice and gave us chicken instead. However they were quick to rectify their mistake and got us the shrimp fried rice promptly. The vermicelli noodles were light with curry flavour not too spicy and still packed with flavour.. The fried rice was special with the sambal flavour shining through. The crispy chips and egg on top added to the crunch and presentation. The portions were just about right, we were a party of 3 - two adults and a 12 year old and we could finish everything. Overall, great experience, the servers were also quite good.. We recommend you to check it out if you are in this area.. This place totally...
