This was the only place in downtown that we could find that served baby back ribs. The décor is dated (IMHO) and their CAD 15 Caesar’s Salad is expensive for just greens. Was surprised when the serveuse asked if I wanted to add anything to my Ceasar’s Salad and I didn’t understand what she meant until I perused their menu again, there is additional cost, for example +CAD 8 to add chicken or +CAD13 to add shrimp. Compared to other similar restaurants, it’s ~CAD 19 for a full size Caesar’s salad that has prosciutto in it. Le mari was very please with the Baby Back Ribs (CAD 33 for 16oz) though it’s not my favourite. I had Prime Rib French Dip (CAD 23) and it was served with a side of their “au jus” dipping sauce - it was tasteless, just some dark brown “jus”. Didn’t improve the sandwich IMO. We asked the serveuse which dessert she would recommend between Affogato (CAD 7) and another dessert. She simply told us it’s up to us as it’s personal preference. So I asked again, which is her favourite and again she told us it’s really based on personal preference. We concluded our meal with an Affogato. We may return for their Baby Back Ribs until we find another restaurant that serves it too.

This particular location is on Stanley St. Parking downtown can be a veritable nightmare. There is metered parking on the street. However a great option is that Firegrill offers validated indoor parking right across the street. Spend $40 and your parking is free. I personally like the decor and ambiance. Woody undertones and classic leather booth seatings. The service was friendly and efficient from the hostess to our waiter. I opted to start with a negroni. One of my favorite cocktails it tasted just right and was a great way to end a work week. For an appetizer I chose the french onion soup. It hit the spot on a chilly Friday evening. While it was good I do have to admit that I have had better. The main dish consisted of the 10oz baby back ribs with 3 shrimps. They came glazed with their classic sweet and tangy bbq sauce. It was just the right balance as it did not swing too much one way or the other. However the dish didn't arrive piping hot as usual. It was warm at best which was somewhat disappointing.

Firegrill has an upscale as well as a casual family oriented atmosphere... probably due to the large space the restaurant has but then again it should cos the food here was delicious... we ordered the Caesar salad, the BBQ Ribs, the mushroom linguini kids macaroni with Alfredo and chicken wrap... finished it with creme brulee and tiramisu... the ribs and mushrooms pasta were simply out of the world... a definite must try and repeat worthy... the chicken wrap was okay and the kids meal Mac in Alfredo was a tad bit too bland (seemed more like cheese and butter tossed macaroni)... the creme brulee was one of the best we've had in Quebec (montreal and QCity)...tiramisu cake, nothing that great... overall we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and the place... the service was quick and again top class ... no complaints there. We will definitely be back

Pre-covid I had ordered prime rib roast on multiple occasions. It was always served to my specifications which was medium rare. After not having it for so long I was excited to go back and order it at Firegrill. I personally found their prime rib roast, with their house au jus sauce to be one of the most delicious in Montreal. But I no longer think that to be true after the experience I’ve had.

My companion and I both ordered medium rare as we always did. The waiter who was serving us, told us that, even if we did order the cooking preference we preferred, it would likely be cooked more closer to a medium. We were confused because this was never an issue in the past. We told him we specifically wanted medium rare and if that temperature were un-available, we preferred not to order it and if he could clarify with the kitchen. We didn’t get any clarification from our waiter so we assumed everything would be alright.

After receiving it though, both our prime rib roasts arrived completely brownish grey but still steaming hot. Cutting into it took some effort, it was stiff to the touch and was a perfect pale pink all the way through, which clearly is medium well. My companion’s was a little thicker but was a medium as well. Completely different to what we ordered in the past, which was tender all the way through, with its definite pink surface sheen. Unsatisfied with what we received we called over the manager who is also the owner, and explained to him that was not what we wanted to order and if he could remove it and send us another prime rib roast to our preferences.

He tried to convince me it was the specified cooking preference we had ordered and proceeded to dictate to me what he thought, constituted as a medium rare. He became defensive, indignant and condescending, at which point he dismissed me completely and said, "I don't want to argue" and walked away abruptly.

I wish I had the chance to take a picture of what we received. If it were not for the other senior waiter coming over to our table every so often checking up on us, I would have definitely rated my experience a 1 star.

I'm not sure whether it was due to the inexperience of our waiter that caused misunderstandings or miscommunication, but we definitely left hungry and unsatisfied. We paid the bill which was, four drinks, a garlic bread and two cocktail shrimps.

We ended up going to another nearby steak house in which the prime rib roast was cooked to perfection and to our preferences. So, no matter how hard the owner tried to pass off medium and medium well, as medium rare, there’s a definite difference in them and I hope he realizes that. Because honestly the only person he’s embarrassing is himself. I believe the key in running a restaurant is consistency, if you cannot follow through with consistency how could you call yourself a successful restaurateur in the...

I'd never usually do this but we were treated extremely poorly and would tell patrons to stay away from this place. We had booked through our hotel for a bday dinner, noting a nut allergy for one of our party. While I don't mind that we had to wait despite a reservation some 15 minutes, once we were sat we waited another 15-20 mins before a server even came to our table to greet us (we actually had to nudge another server to see if our server could help us). Our server said she wasn't aware of our being sat (weird considering the reservation) but then it went even more sideways when we were told by that server they wouldn't be able to feed us because of the nut allergy (which we expressed in our reservation and no one told us would be an issue). We asked if there was anything our one guest with the allergy could eat and were told by the server they wouldn't serve any of us at all. It was strange because usually an issue like that would involve a manager or chef but not the server. So, having wasted 30 minutes only to be told the restaurant wouldn't serve us, we left. Luckily we found a wonderful place nearby or this place would've ruined a birthday. I wouldn't recommend Firegrill at all obviously...the place was disorganized, didn't communicate any issues with our reservation, and made us wait over half an hour before being turned away to eat with no explanation from the manager or chef. What a fabulous disaster...1 star only because there no 0...

I made a reservation through open table, and we arrived 10 minutes earlier. We headed to the bar to wait for our table to be ready, no big deal. After 20 minutes past our time we were seated in an area of the restaurant where there were two big birthday tables that seemed to be competing who could make the most noise.

When I say noise it means screaming like when you are in a concert. I wish we were given the option to seat on a quieter corner or even stay at the bar that, believe or not, was way quieter than the restaurant.

After the wait, we were seated and plates were brought in - dirty plates. Our hostess noticed that the plate was dirty and took it away but forgot to bring a new one back. Napkins and forcks were brought after asking for them and after we finished the first course.

Fresh pepper was never offered for the steaks - the excuse was that it is seasoned with pepper already? Oh what if you cannot eat pepper or how come the big table with the other waiter was being offered fresh pepper?

The service, or lack thereof, really made the night very unpleasant.

When the bill was paid I told the waiter about the noise and his response was “you know this is a restaurant right?” A restaurant is right, not a sports bar.

I would not recommend this “restaurant”. There are better options nearby to take...
