My husband and I and sometimes bring our children to this restaurant at least once a week for few years now. Unfortunately it will be our last visit. Everything started well this morning but when I politely asked for a glass of water, our waitress, the older skinny light purple hair with tattoos seemed annoyed, 15 mins later, still no water and then we asked another "bus lady", oldest one with short hair grey hair, said she sounded annoyed as well, then finally before we left we asked our original waitress (she rolled her eyes and lifted up her hands), for my glass of water (because I need to take my medication), this time she came back and slammed the glass on our table with water spilling and said "bon". Disgusting service 😡 Sorry but this was our last visit to his place ever and I assure you that none of my family nor friends will ever return to this establishment ever again. Those two women needs to be fired! As much as we enjoy the food and atmosphere, the service was never the friendliest, this time just finally did it..maybe racist. Adieu Greenspot, you can thank your waitresses for that. I complained to the young cashier and she responded by saying they were probably stressed, the restaurant wasn't even busy today and that's no excuse to treat customers like that. I also reported this to the manager. I hope management will do something about this. Shame on those nasty waitresses. We immediately started to look for another restaurant to replace this place.

Not every old place retains its charm and this place is the prime example. I was visiting Montreal with friends and my Airbnb host (who’s a Quebec local) recommended me this place. I went in for breakfast and initial impression was good - it didn’t seem bad at all. The food was nothing close to being an enjoyable meal. Toast was cold as served, pancakes and French toast weren’t hot either. I specifically asked for fully cooked eggs but they served it almost raw. Fruits were stale and dry- not fresh at all. The only thing good was coffee. Service was okay until one of the waitresses asked us to finish our breakfast and leave asap as they had people waiting to be seated - this was 30 minutes after our arrival and there were a lot of empty tables. Racism in the place was quite evident (our table was a visible minority). When we walked up to the counter to pay our cheque, the guy behind the counter was rude and asked us to leave a bigger tip after we tipped 10%. He forced us to pay another 15% and made us look like we were being cheap when we were just avoiding to complain about the bad food and service we already paid and tipped for. Horrible experience. Wouldn’t recommend visiting this place at all.

Greenspot in Montreal is a fantastic dining destination that I highly recommend for both locals and tourists looking to indulge in delicious Quebec delicacies. I've visited multiple times, and my latest outing was a memorable family gathering with my parents and siblings. The menu is extensive, featuring a wide variety of poutines, beers, and other diner classics that showcase the best of Quebec’s culinary offerings. One of the standout aspects of Greenspot is its inviting atmosphere. The restaurant has maintained its charm over the years, creating a welcoming space where families and friends can come together to enjoy hearty meals. Whether you’re a poutine aficionado or just looking for a satisfying meal, you’ll find something to delight your taste buds. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring that your dining experience is enjoyable from start to finish. The vibrant atmosphere makes it a great spot to relax, catch up with friends, or celebrate special occasions. Overall, Greenspot is a must-visit for anyone craving greasy comfort food in a cozy setting. Don't miss out on this Montreal gem that perfectly captures the essence of Quebec's culinary scene!

Caveat, we generally are not really into fast food, but we do like a good pastrami sandwich and wanted to try poutine, and love historic vintage places, so we decided to give Greenspot a try. The smoked meat sandwich and poutine were the best things we tried. I liked the squeaky cheese and the style of fries, both crispy and soft at the same time, but the gravy was a bit too salty. The smoked meat sandwich was stuffed with meat, like at Katz's Deli in New York and tasted great. The pizza which my son had oddly had the pepperoni under the cheese (maybe this is a Canadian thing). He enjoyed it. My daughter and husband shared a lasagna, but we were shocked to receive a massive family size portion with the lunch menu. But it was not great... There were dry inedible pasta edges, and parts where the pasta doesn't have sauce in between and it's just layers of cooked pasta stuck together. There were also a lot of whole cloves in the sauce for some reason, and my daughter hurt her tooth biting one. The minestrone soup that came with the lasagna was just average diner soup, possibly canned soup heated up. Overall, the meal was heavy and what you'd expect of an average diner. Not great but not awful. Also the lunch special was supposed to come with coffee and a dessert, which would have been way too much food, considering the massive portions, but I did notice that the waitress didn't bring it up and ask if we wanted it. On the plus side, it's cool to eat in a vintage diner, and I wish we had a coin to try the jukebox at the table. We didn't find out if they...

This place doesn't disappoints

My Order: -Hamburger with bacon and cheddar cheese -Water -Pogo

Food: The food was really good, the beef Pattie in was made from actual ground beef and hand made at some point oooo and it came with red cabbage on the side. The pogo was standard out of the box and fried. If I had to complain about anything it would have to be the fries that came with the burger were cut into GIANT SLICES and flash fried, almost like wedges but bigger and more tasteless. I should have taken the salad but meh..the giant fries were nice to nibble on after my meal.

The Environment: It's a very clean and friendly place, the tables are clean and the washrooms are clean with no issues. The staff is very friendly and hard working to get food out to you as fast and as tasty as possible, never really had to wait long for a table but it's never that long.

Overall: I love this place and have never been disappointed in the food, the menu is MASSIVE and could be cut down by 75% but to just have the option of.....anything is kinda nice. I've been here many times over the years and have yet to be disappointed in anything here, quick everything and amazing taste.

It's a must visit place when...
