Douceurs Du Marche — Local services in Montreal

This place is cute and has a great variety of products. I’m still new to this country and want to find favorite places I can frequent. I thought this place would be one of my regulars and wanted to give it five stars but took one off because one of the dozen or so products I purchased from them (a small bag of $10 made-in-Montreal granola) was rancid even though it hadn’t expired. I brought the product back so they could smell it themselves and they said there was nothing they could do about it, wouldn’t let me exchange it, wouldn’t refund me, or anything. The man I talked with was hostile and unaccommodating. So I took two more stars off for bad customer service. It makes me sad I can only give two stars because I want to be able to shop here regularly with confidence in what I’m buying and know they’d have my back if one of their vendors was selling them rancid products. But apparently they have a “buyer beware” lack-of-customer service/support policy and that makes me wary of buying anything...

If you’re looking for any kind of specialty product for baking, nice syrups for your drinks, imported goodies, or nice olive oils and seasonings, this is absolutely your go-to place!

The space is super cosy and organised in a way that makes sense, and the staff are some of the kindest people I’ve ever met! When I asked someone for a wine recommendation, they went after another staff member who understood of the topic so I could get the best suggestions! They’re also very friendly no matter what language you speak — in my case, they were super patient with my French, as I’m still learning, and had no problem going full Franglais when I couldn’t find the...

This store is truly one in a million...and one that you will need to arrive at, relaxed, and prepared to be there for quite awhile! The array of imported products is astounding - whether it be a special vinegar or delightful unique olive oil - imported vanilla paste (so convenient to have and so much more flavorful than vanilla extract!) - The products are endless (jams, crackers, spices - organic and regular - the products are shelved up to the ceiling but not to worry You couldn't get a nicer group of sales persons....all with a smile to advise, serve and help you...! This store is always a special...
