Before COVID-19, I used to go eat at Indian Curry House and I had a very good memory. Quality was good and food tasted great. Based on that, few days ago, me and my pregnant wife decided to order some Indian food through Doordash. My first reflex was to order from Indian Curry House. When food came, we tasted the food and it was blend, not well cooked (naan bread was burned on one side, Dahl soup was watery and blend etc.), very oily and my wife didn't feel good. She started to vomit. I was very disappointed as I had myself some sort of nausea and discomfort in my stomach. We couldn't eat the food. I contacted immediately Doordash via chat and they took my message very seriously and refunded me. They also took the initiative to contact the restaurant as the taste was off but more importantly the quality and safety were a concern. I feel that the covid situation really impacted badly the quality and integrity of a lot of restaurants. Unfortunately, I don't feel comfortable ordering again and recommending this restaurant. Very disappointed that money is becoming more important than quality. Sorry but I cannot give more than 2 stars!!! I personally cannot recommend!!! Kudos to Doordash team for nicely handling and resolving the situation!!!

My fiancé and I decided to try this Indian restaurant for it’s high raitings and for my cravings. Upon arrival around 5:40pm this evening, we were assigned a table right away. There was 3 waitresses this evening and I must say they were a little on the cold/rude side. They were not very welcoming. It would be nice if they would tell you what dish was in front of you. Butter chicken and chicken tikka masala looked the same. I’m no expert on Indian cuisine so it would be helpful. I felt as if they were a little robotic (none asked if everything was okay or whatsoever. It was like: water here, menu here, plates there, not even an enjoy your meal). (-1 star for costumer service) Thank God there dishes were positively good and priced right. Vegetable samosa was delicious. Too delicious that I didn’t got the chance to take a photo. Naan bread was fresh. Chicken tikka masala is actually better than I expected. Better than butter chicken. Yup, I said it! The lamb berayani was pretty good. Lamb was a tad try but still, we ate it all. Go early when you can because it gets busy and crowded pretty quick in the evening. Will be definitely coming back.

Sept 2022 - the food is still as good as the first time we were there (see below). The only issue was that it was very warm in the restaurant. Yes, it was hit outside, but just as hot inside. June 2022 -Now that I started enjoying Indian food, we are trying different places. Whether it be Northern or Southern Indian we are trying it all. Reading reviews, looking at the menu, helps us decide if we are to try it or not. The only drawback is parking. Very difficult unless you walk, bike or use public transportation. Now for the food. Well, it's really, really good. We started with one order, 6 pieces if the Pani Puri appetizer. I could have eaten more than three. They were that good. We also had an order of Chicken Biryani, Butter Chicken and Chicken Muglai, a Mango Lassi and one garlic Naan. Everything was amazing. The Biryani and Muglai were a bit spicy but the Naan and Lassi helped calm the burn. Then I couldn't resist, so I had a Gulab Jamun. Holy smokes, it was good too. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely go back. Difficult parking and all. Good job.

I am writing this review with so much frustration and disgust. I would leave 0 stars if I had the option.

Let me start by saying that I've been coming to this restaurant for MANY YEARS (5+). In the last year and a half, the service here has decreased drastically.

The women that serve you have no respect. Not to mention, they don't seem to understand anything... They don't say "Please" or "Thank you", in fact, they don't say anything at all. They just stare at you blank in the face until you tell them your order or until you ask them a question.

Last night confirmed to me that I will no longer be coming here. I went to have supper with a friend and everything seemed fine at first... We ordered 2 samosas and vegetable pekora's to start (which came pretty fast - even too fast).. luckily, they were warm and so we assumed they were fresh. We were then ready to order our main dish; I ordered the Butter Chicken Thali and my friend ordered a Masaladosa. After a decent amount of time, my friend got her food, meanwhile I was still waiting for mine... More than 10 minutes passed and I am still waiting. My friend was more than half way done... I look at the waitress and I asked her "Did you forget about my Thali?" and she responded "Yes". She was not apologetic AT ALL. She did not even excuse herself! Not even 2 min later and she brings my food and still no apology. After me and my friend were done, we both got up to leave and no one looked at us or said bye..

The time before this one, they forgot our drinks that we ordered.. Like c'mmon... We were only 2 people. The restaurant was half empty. The waitresses were just walking back and forth the whole time. Did they not notice me waiting for my food while my friend was eating hers.. The people that came after us even got their food before I did.. Moral of the story, they really don't care about their customers. NEVER coming...

We always admired Indian cuisine and as per reviews and we heard it is a busier place in Montreal. We assumed that we will have good and tasty food but we were completely wrong.

Firstly the server's attitude. It was ridiculous. She was chewing gum all the time in the restaurant not only while taking orders but also while serving. And her name is Monica.

Second they messed up with our order. Brought appetizers after the main course. Paratha were served first and even after requesting them manytimes at last butter showed up, but by then we were done eating paratha. Mango Lassi was full of colour ingredients. And we could see in saloon paratha there was barely potatoes. And when we asked Monika she said I'll get you another paratha, which never came to us...Like seriously!

Colours on the curry was all over our fingers. First time I experienced food colour used not properly. And most of the servers were teenagers. And there was no team work and communication. Coz we were also supposed to get green chutney with fish pakorha, but it was missing and when after a long wait for the server when we requested it took another 5 minutes for us to get it.

Further we went to make the bill payment at the counter and there was another girl pretty young age, we were trying to tell her about the whole experience in the restaurant but she wasn't even paying attention. All she cared about was to charge us. And didn't even apologize for what happened!!! Very disappointing!

I have seen that once these restaurants gets busy they reduce the taste and good quality. it shouldn't be like that. At last I wanna to suggest place own please reduce the seating if you can't serve them all at a time. I hope my this part will help lot of new people coming to...

Decent restaurant - my go-to restaurant for Indian food!

Negatives:

Inconsistent, especially quantity. I ordered a batura once and it was 60% of its usual size. But the naan I ordered on the same day was around 20% bigger.

I often feel a bit uncomfortable after eating here. Once I got light food poisoning although it could have been from something else. Maybe I should order less haha.

The starters don't seem fresh and aren't as tasty as the rest of the menu.

Positives:

The main dishes usually taste amazing and are quite good even on the bad days. Butter chicken, shahi paneer, chola batura - you name it - they all taste great.

Their clientele seems quite mixed - lots of Indians but lots of people from other continents as well. It seems that they can prepare food for everyone which is a remarkable skill if you ask me.

The service is quite great. They are fairly busy in the evenings but they try to accommodate you even if you are in a big group or alone. However, it is almost completely empty around 4 pm. But the quality of service doesn't drop.

I saw a couple of the waiters practising french which was heartening to see.

After all the great service, you pay at the counter - the tip is completely optional! This is so marvelous. However, I still leave an extra tip of 10-20$ if I came with a big group and hogged a big table for 3+ hours in the evening.

To be fair, I would probably give them a 4 star if I compared them with indian restaurants in other north american cities. But when I am in Montreal, I come back here again and again. Because the other Indian restaurants are really not great and frighteningly inconsistent.

So, 5 stars for you maison indian curry. Stay awesome and try to be consistent as...
