Filipino food has been called the "next best thing" by many food writers in North America. Kasama in Chicago, Jeepney in New York; they are all reputable restaurants serving the finest that the Philippines can dish out in North America. It is with no great surprise that the same kind of culinary explosion is happening here in Montreal as well!
While Morena might not have the same kind of publicity or dining experience as more established venues, they make it up with terrific meals that is by far some of the best I have tried.
The fried chicken is seasoned to perfection. The filipino spaghetti is the right kind of sweet. The meat skewers are wonderfully tender. The menu are represents the best that filipino food has to offer. All at generous prices.
The staff might not have the highest standards in terms of waiting but they are nevertheless warm and inviting. In fact, they are all former nurses from the Philippines, so if ever you decide to have a medical episode while eating, Morena might be the best...
Read moreThere are way better options in this neighborhood for Pinoy food and they don't treat their customers like garbage. No other restaurant near Plamondon metro would make you feel like you’re family when you eat in there. The chef was friendly and asking me if the food i ordered was good. The dish they serve in this place reminds me of home-cooking as if the food was prepared by your own mom. The only downside is that the food took quite long for it to be served but it was understandable since multiple online orders were being prepared, the kitchen was small and there were not that many people working in there. Overall, i’m still surprised that the chefs served quality food even in the heat of many orders coming through and the small kitchen they cook in. Would definitely come back and eat...
