The service is really bad, they served us the soup in a plastic bowl for take out, we have to ask for spoons and plates (and they looked at us with a death stare when we asked politely), the sauce was dirty, the walls had sauce stains and they were cleaning the floor at 11:30 in the morning when there was customers (bleach smell while eating, yum). The only time the waitress smiled as us was when we went to pay because we remained extra polite.
The food is good but I feel like the skin is too thick for the xiao long bao; the meat and broth is delicious on the sweet side.
The biggest problem I have is that we had to ask for spoons and they only gave us coffee spoons (tiny ones) because apparently they don’t have normal spoons. I don’t know how they expect us to eat soup dumpling with those tiny spoons without spilling and wasting the soup.
The food was a 3 stars (I’d come back once every 6 months for the food) but a 0 star for the service (didn’t feel welcome at all). My family and I are very friendly and stayed positive and smile a lot but this was a lost cause. So just to be fair, it would be a 2 star experience meaning I would not come back because there are better dumplings at other...
Read moreThis place opened a bit before the COVID-19 lockdown in Montreal. They have since reopened and offer takeout services. Their menu features a lot of different dumplings, potstickers, Xiao Long Bao at very reasonable price. The quality of the food is great and everything that I’ve tried was very delicious. The service is also very friendly, and they have the option to mix up to 3 sorts of dumplings per serving, which is great if you like trying new things. So, if you’re in Outremont and love dumplings, make sure to stop by and try their stuff. There are plenty of parks nearby where you can enjoy their food, while it’s still hot. And it only takes about 15 minutes to get the order ready.
EDIT: After visiting this place regularly for over a year I decided to update my review. While I still love their food, I realized that lately they were lacking consistency often on same orders. For example sometimes the dumplings are well crimped, sometimes they come out opened. The appetizers taste different from time to time. Soup is sometimes flavorful and hot, sometimes watered down and barely warm. This is the only drawback that I see so far. And I still highly recommend this place...
Read moreThis restaurant has been newly renovated, and it feels like a lot has changed. However, recently, everything about the dumplings has changed—except the taste. They’re completely different now. Three months ago, the dumplings were clearly handmade—plump, meaty, delicious, and beautifully made. But today, I ordered three dumplings, and they were extremely small with very little filling and tasted terrible, almost as if they had been frozen for too long. I seriously suspect they’re now machine-made, mass-produced, and just passed off as handmade. The open kitchen doesn’t even show the dumplings being made fresh anymore—they look like identical copies, almost like they were 3D-printed. What's more, the price is totally unreasonable! Even the...
