Restaurant Doan — Restaurant in Montreal

Honestly, I've been here twice. Once during summer 2018 and again about a week ago. Despite it being under new ownership (supposedly?) There was little improvement. First time I visited I had high-ish expectations from a restaurant in Outremont that actually had a crowd inside. I ordered ginger chicken (with soup and spring rolls) and it was... Not great. At that time I was with two other people and they also did not enjoy their food. Visiting again a week ago, my expectations not as high, I decided to order a different dish which was the pineapple chicken (again with the soup and spring rolls)... This time was certainly better than the first, but still not great. Personally my food was very hot, tasted okay despite looking pretty gross, but the other two people eating with me complained that their food was just "warm". --- the spring rolls are good but extremely oily, and their soup of the day is good in the way that a powdered soup mix can be good? I guess? Don't get me wrong... It isn't the worst meal I've ever eaten, but for 16 dollars I expected better. All of the food seems straight out of the freezer. I am honestly shocked that this place does such good business and has mostly positive reviews. I'd also like to mention that the service here is spotty and the chairs are very fragile feeling and uncomfortable. This place by no means is a great place to eat. I bought a brochette of chicken, beef and shrimp. It was the most horrible thing I have ever ate. Besides the 3 proteins being completely over cooked, the beef was so chewy I had to throw it away. The chicken seemed boiled and then thrown on the grill until completely over cooked and the shrimp was so overcooked the word rubber is an understatement. Also they give you some soggy noodles and barely any sauce. I don't know how anyone can order this garbage. Funny enough the plate I ordered had 4.9 starts out of 30 orders. Personally I think they had their friends rate the food. I rather starve of hunger then eat from this place ever again. The fact that they sent that garbage to me is a sign that they don't have any quality standards. How other people find this place great...

This place is absolutely atrocious I order 3 things here not even 15 minutes ago I come home excited to eay my food and it just looked disgusting the food was bland they let the rice sit in some sort of juice so the rice became a paste my veggies were so soggy and bland no flavor sloppy work and shame on the cook how dare you serve food like that at the price you charge you guys need to reevaluate ypur business.
