I recently had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful Vietnamese restaurant in Montreal, and I can confidently say that it exceeded all my expectations. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. To begin with, their iced coffee is an absolute delight. The rich, bold flavor and smooth texture were a perfect way to start the meal. It's clear that they pay careful attention to every detail, even something as simple as a beverage. One of the standout aspects of the restaurant is the owner, Anh. A truly charming and hospitable individual, Anh went out of his way to ensure that my dining experience was memorable. His warm demeanor and genuine care for his customers added a personal touch that is often hard to come by in dining establishments. The menu boasts a variety of authentic Vietnamese dishes, each bursting with incredible flavors and expertly prepared. It's evident that the chefs take immense pride in their craft, as every dish that arrived at the table was a work of art. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for both intimate dinners and gatherings with friends. The attention to detail in the decor adds to the overall pleasant atmosphere. In conclusion, this Vietnamese restaurant in Montreal deserves every bit of praise. From the delectable food to the outstanding service, it's an experience that I wholeheartedly recommend. I'll definitely be returning to indulge in their offerings and bask in the warm hospitality of Anh and his team. Five stars without a doubt.

My sister brought our family to dine at this restaurant and we were all pleasantly surprised at the level of enthusiasm and quality found in the food at Pho Anh. It is perhaps the best North Vietnamese food I have sampled in last 15 years living in Montreal prepared by some of the most enthusiastic crew that I have witnessed. We've had the Hanoi Bun Cha (V1), grilled meats (R4) on rice as mains and the mains were the highlight of the meal. Layered, flavorful, refined, extremely juicy and tender, well bbq'ed smoked piece of meat were just melting in our mouths bite after bite while carbs of rice add weight and abundant fresh leaves of mint/lettuce/etc were adding dashes of freshness. I couldn't stop raving on how good everything was tasting. Sure, the Papaya salad could have been better, spring rolls tasted fresh, but pale in comparison to the mains. The desserts need a bit of work too, but still I can't stop thinking about those mains. And yes location is hard to access for parking (take metro) and you need to walk down stairs to get to the door. Yet, I'd still make the effort because this place gives a damm about providing quality. I'll surely be back with friends and colleagues for this feast or by myself for their soups and I'll be looking forward to do so. Great job Pho Anh!

TLDR: HIGHLY reccomend, DELICIOUS FOOD, great pricing, friendly and quick service, will be coming back many times in the future!! I came here with some friends on a snowy Saturday night. We were seated immediately, the place wasn't that busy, the provided tea was nice, mild and warming (i think jasmine or green?), and the staff was super friendly and kind. The owner came over to our table and gave us a few reccomendations and provided some more details about menu items including their 72-hour beef broth, the quality ingredients they use, like fresh meat, and their excellent Vietnamese iced coffee. It really show he cared about what he was doing and (spoiler alert) it shows!! After ordering the spring rolls (came with 4), two types of pho (skirt flank and brisket), the Charboiled chicken Bún (cold vermicelli) and Vietnamese coffee, we received our items quickly. Everything was DELICIOUS and the portion sizes were generous. We all took home leftovers and will be returning soon for the cozy atmosphere, the amazing, quality food, and the overall service. (Note: the restaurant itself is a few steps down off of Saint-Denis so unfortunately not accessible for those in wheelchairs but perhaps not a huge challenge for someone with limited mobility).

Absolutely terrible experience.

This was, hands down, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The owner was shockingly rude — after I paid for my meal, he asked me to leave for no reason at all. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful. If you’re a black person, avoid this restaurant. The discriminatory treatment I got was horrible compared to the other guests.

The food? Not even worth mentioning. Bland, overpriced, and honestly below average. Cold, stale and ridiculous for what they charge.

To make matters worse, the server had an awful attitude and was aggressively fishing for tips. It was uncomfortable and tacky. You don’t demand tips when the service is that bad.

The entire experience felt like a scam — poor food, bad service, and a hostile atmosphere. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Stay far away.

Edited to respond: Mr Pho, it was my first time at your restaurant. I arrived at a time I believed the restaurant was open, you should have told me to leave and unfortunately you can’t attend to me instead of treating me like an inconvenience.

To clarify, my first bite of the meal was cold and I immediately brought it to your notice. I did not eat the entire meal before addressing the taste and coldness, that’s a lie on your part.

Also, they were 2 other ladies/ guests in the restaurant with me while I was there, they arrived way before me and also left late. You did not hurry them out to leave. I asked for the bill, Your server came to me and I PAID. Instead of saying thanks for your patronage, the first thing he said was why didn’t you tip?!”. That was very rude and uncalled for. You believed your server instead of asking for clarification and treating me with respect and yelled at me to leave your restaurant even after I paid. I left late because i was hungry and had to force myself to eat a meal I did not enjoy especially for the price paid !!! Tips are optional, not compulsory - when you offer terrible service, don’t expect tips. I paid for the meal and that’s what matters. You are not entitled to a tip, pay your staff well to not be snappy and demand tips. I tip when the service is excellent.

I was the only black person in that restaurant & I noticed the difference in the way I was treated versus other guests present. You were wrong, very disrespectful and discriminatory by shouting at me to leave. I would never come back to your restaurant or recommend the place and I regret it...

I am not usually one to write reviews. But after deeper thoughts, our experience at Pho Anh was so pleasant that it made the talk of our drive home AND our family dinner today.

We came on a Sunday night with grumpy faces and sore feet as our original reservation at another Pho restaurant was cancelled upon short notice. We looked online and saw Pho Anh had the best ratings in all montreal so this was our last resort. It was very busy when we came in and we weren’t expecting much but BOY was i wrong!

Anh! I dont know what magic goes in that kitchen but you’ve got to tell me the secret. I got the meatball soup. Let me tell you: the first sip made my mood turn a whole 180 degree! The taste brought me back to my old days in vietnam. I haven’t seen this dish in such a long time that I had completely forgotten how good it is. We also got the crispy wings as starter. Though I must say, for such a busy night, me and my family were more than pleasantly surprised by the quality of the service! Despite the busy crowd, our waitress took the time to guide us with the menu. See, I have vietnamese roots but after moving here I have forgotten most of my mother language. My wife as for her, is only fluent in french and my mother came here for a short visit so she only speaks vietnamese. Regardless of the language barrier among us, Vyvy was kind enough to help us understand every dishes and even took the time to go back and forth between three different languages!! JUST to ensure that we could enjoy our meal the best way possible. It always amazes me how talented these youngsters are. She had such genuine positivity and excitement that her joy might have been the secret ingredient.

But I have to say: Anh, your daughter has very promising sales skills. From the poached egg to the coffee, best part: they arent just trying to sell but care deeply about your experience. She gave very honest yet effective advertising ( the poached egg is a must get). Anyways enough blabla, this place is a true gem for vietnamese cuisine fanatics although i must be honest it gets busy FAST and there seems to be very little staff. I don’t want to seem nosy yet seeing a little girl running an entirely filled restaurant while her colleagues were almost no where to be seen does get concerning. Management might need a little improvement but aside from that, the service and the food made it all worthwhile! Will definitely recommend to...
