Poulet FOU et Frit — Restaurant in Montreal

First for context.

This is not a place for a fancy dinner this is a cool place to grab a healthy portion of fresh fried chicken and all the other goodies at an affordable price and clean cool environment.

Place was super clean and atmosphere was cool as was the music corner where they have live (music) entertainment.

Service is exceptional. The staff are super warm and friendly and go beyond happily taking the time and care to make sure you have a great experience and enjoy their excellent food.

The food was exceptional. This is one of the best places in the province to eat freshly fried chicken homemade style. They marinate the chicken for 24 hours !!!! The chicken is crazy juicy. The breading is perfectly seasoned and really does not need anything added to it - however, I was curious about their gravy as I love gravy and it too was excellent and home made. It took the chicken to a whole new level of “wow”! Dipping the fries into the gravy or the onion rings was also a taste bud trip to gastro heaven. Not that they needed to extra push of flavour but the sauce is soooooo goooood - why not dip?!?

Pricing is extremely fair and reasonable and frankly I don’t know how they are able to charge such reasonable prices given almost every other friend chicken place is much more expensive. Perhaps the competition is just plain out ripping people off and the owners are not into taking advantage of their customer?? Whatever the reason I am impressed with the value and quality.

I also found out they are in the process of being Halal certified so this is a plus for this type of clientele.

I can’t find a flaw here.

Amazing fried chicken spot in Ville-Émard, and my most highly recommended friend chicken spot in Montreal! The owner and staff are super friendly, and the quality is very consistent, I have been here dozens of times and have never had an unpleasant inexperience—food or service wise. Both dine-in and takeout are good!

Family fun pack (10 pieces of chicken, usually drums and thighs, with gravy and your choice of fries or spaghetti): $37.99 The value is very good, especially compared to other fried chicken spots in Montreal, and the chicken here is definitely worth trying.

The chicken is marinaded with nice blend of spices, so that the regular, non-spicy chicken is flavourful too. The spicy chicken gets a coating of spicy seasoning that isn’t too spicy but has a nice kick, you can ask for more or less depending on your preference, and you can even ask them to put it on your fries for spicy fries. The batter is not too thick, and creates a perfectly crispy coating around the chicken, and the chicken inside is tender and juicy. The chicken they serve has a very good chicken flavour, and is very fresh. They serve cavendish fries, which have a crispy coating; the fries and gravy are delicious together. The spaghetti is much sweeter than usual spaghetti, but pairs nicely with eating fried chicken. It comes with meat sauce and shredded cheese sprinkled on top.

Today was my second time at Maffeo’s. When I first moved to the area, I was craving and wanted to find a new fried chicken spot. The minute I saw that this place serves their chicken combos with spaghetti?? I knew they were Filipino haha

The first time, I came in just before they closed so I’m certain I got left over chicken and spaghetti; that was my fault. But it was still excellent but nothing really wowwwwwed me.

But today…we made it in good timing and all orders are fried up upon orders, extra fresh!

The chickens were incredible. Get the spicy and that gravy…and these ain’t no skinny chickens, they’re huge pieces! I also appreciated that they didn’t close up the box on me so that the skin and batter stays crispy and nice!

Spaghetti was also awesome just the right portion. I just wished they had garlic fried rice and it would have been GAME OVER.

I understand the high rating. Owner/person (not Filipino but I know he’s always around Filipinos or perhaps married one haha) on cash was incredibly friendly the first time and welcomed me to the neighbourhood and today was no different, very kind and warm. A bit of wait if you order in store, so I suggest calling in. But it’s worth the wait, don’t think twice, just come and grab some of the best fried...
