Ambience - very nice feel to the place. We were a group of 8 and went in at around 9.15pm. We were told that kitchen was closing at 10pm.
Ordered cocktails and beer.
All the cocktails were excellent.
My sparkling water was flat, I asked for a replacement and I was brought a new club soda. Ordered a variety of food and apps.
Ceviche- was ok. Shrimps seemed to have been in the marinade for too long and shrimp was tad bit tough. Other ingredients in the bowl were tasting nice.
Duck terrine - excellent overall.
Lamb kebabs- very well made. Fresh and taste was overall excellent.
The burger stole the show. Was awesome.
Jerk chicken - taste of chicken was good but was not at all authentic. Baked macaroni was very dry. Cole slaw was good.
So overall if I had to rate the food only It would be a 4.
My issue was with service. From the time we ordered till we left my only interaction with the server was when I asked for a replacement sparkling water and when I asked for the bill.
We were not asked if we wanted more drinks, or inquired about the quality of the drinks or the quality of the food.
So basics of decent to good service was completely missing.
I left a very small tip. The server seemed visibly upset when I completed the transaction. Not even a " good night".
Quite frankly I can understand why she is upset but I would like the server or the manager to also understand that Tips are paid for good service and not just because you take my order and bring me the food and drinks I ordered.
Question I have for myself - was I expecting too much or did I not get the service because I am not a local from the...
Read moreWent there on a Friday evening. All tables inside were full, so we were offered a table outside in the little yard, which was fine. We asked the waitress whether it would be possible to turn on the heater, and she said that she would check with her boss (why does she have to ask her boss about something so simple?). The boss said yes, so all was good. Seated outside, we asked the waitress if she would turn on the heater (why did we have to ask again?). After 5 mins more without any heat, we asked the waitress once again (hmm). After 5 mins more without any heat, I decided to try to turn it on myself, and then a manager arrived and helped me. Unfortunately there was no gas, so they could not turn it on as promised (why don't they have a spare bottle ready?). We had still not been asked what we wanted, so we tried to get the waitress' attention, and asked if we could order food and drinks. She said "Yes, of course", and came over right away (why didn't she come by right away herself? Of course the place was busy, but still). We ordered burgers and drinks. Once orders were placed, the food and drinks turned up faster than any fast rood restaurant (very impressive) The burgers and side dishes were really awesome. Had the waitress been more attentative, and had they had a spare bottle of gas on hand for the heater, I would have given them 5 stars - but...
Read moreFrequent patron of this fine establishment. Service is excellent as usual and leaves you feeling attended and taken care of.
Slightly disappointed by the food recently. By no means were they bad, it’s just not as good anymore compared to what it was some months ago.
We ordered a number of dishes this time as we had guests over.
Appetisers Beef Tataki The Return of The King of Mushrooms
Mains Lamb Kababs Jerk Chicken Bagg Burger Summer Grills Gone Wild
Best dish as usual was the Bagg Burger, the patty was juicy and cooked perfectly. The potatoes salad side was marvellous.
I probably won’t order any of the appetisers or mains again. Lamb kebabs were dry and over cooked. Jerk chicken too sweet and also slightly over cooked.
I will definitely return again but will stick to the tried and tested dishes. Still...
