I tried Pizza Toni for the first time and I wanted to leave a review to help others out who might not know what to expect. I'm originally from NJ and I wanted to try this place because it was supposed to have more "NY style" pizza instead of Montreal style pizza. I will say that the crust was definitely reminiscent of NY style pizza and overall I did like it.
I ordered the eggplant parmesan pizza for myself and the vegan pizza (with 1/2 pepperoni) for my son. I was a bit disappointed with mine because it tasted like the peppers were marinated in something with vinegar. I really hate vinegar which is why I didn't choose the mushroom pizza (since it said it was their marinated mushroom mix) and I didn't want to take the chance of something vinegary. The pizza I ordered mentioned cheese, tomato sauce, heirloom peppers and eggplant. I can't 100% for sure say it was vinegar, but it was definitely not just plain peppers as they were very tangy and that taste overwhelmed the entire pizza for me. So I can't say if I would have fully liked it or not. I think if I had gotten plain cheese, or if you could choose your toppings, I would have liked it more.
My son got the vegan cheese pizza and he really loved the vegan cheese and the pizza itself. I took a bite and I thought the vegan cheese tasted really good. I got 1/2 pepperoni because he really likes pepperoni, but some places are too spicy for him. He has GI issues and so if he eats spicy foods it aggravates his system. Unfortunately although he loved the taste of the pepperoni, he found they were very spicy for him (he's only 10). So I just want to give that caveat to anyone concerned with that. If you like spicy or it doesn't bother you, you will probably like it.
The other downside is that the pizzas are VERY expensive. I knew this ahead of time on their website, but I'm just letting people know in case. For me, it was a fun splurge but not something I would order that regularly. It was $87 for 2 pizzas and a hot honey dip, although I did also add pepperoni to a pizza that doesn't normally have it so it might have been extra.
I did find the pizzeria to have a nice atmosphere and there were lots of young people hanging out and eating pizza. The restaurant did not seat large numbers, but it still felt spacious and looked very clean. Everyone working there was nice and they looked happy.
I really do think that for someone who is not sensitive to vinegar, they would probably really like it. I just don't have an adventurous palate for that kind of stuff. Also, I ordered some hot honey on the side to drizzle on my pizza and it was...
Read morelook generally I’m pretty lenient with lazy customer service but I ain’t finna let this one slide.
tell me why I go to order some slices and a dipping sauce, I pay, cashier lady gives me my sauce, then I’m waiting, waiting, waiting.
on god like fifteen minutes go by, atp the cashier lady is on break chilling on her phone in the lobby.
I’m still waiting like … aight 😐
I go up to the counter and ask another cashier, i’m like “hey I think my slices are good now”
new cashier checks the oven. not a slice to be seen. I’m like ??? wt was I waiting for then ??
New cashier asks me if I paid yet. I say yes. Then she starts going through EACH receipt trying to find my order, and since I was waiting for literally ever, best believe there were many a reciept..
Aight so I’m not waiting here all day, I cut her off and I point to the cashier on break. I’m like Her, she took my order 15 minutes ago. Sorry to snitch sis but I got places to be and just paid twenty bucks for 2 slices of pizza
So new cashier goes around, asks old cashier if I paid. She looks up at me, looks me in the eyes and says “I Have No Clue”.
HUH???

Read moreMy partner and I have been ordering pizza from here consistently since it opened, and we’ve always raved about it to anyone who’d listen. Tonight we ordered our 3rd pizza in the last 3 weeks, and we are so shocked and disappointed at how much the quality and consistency have degraded over time! They were little changes at first that we attributed to “off days” but it is now clear that the Pizza Toni of the past is no more. The pizza is 2 inches smaller, for starters, and the quality of the ingredients has gone down significantly. It’s no longer the experience it once was. We always order half pepperoni and half sweet cherry pie, with everything seasoning crust. Today, we got half cheese instead of pepp and it’s the second time that we get sesame instead of everything seasoning. I even asked the person packing the pizza if he used everything seasoning, and he looked at me dead faced and said yes. The dough used to be delicious and you can just taste that it doesn’t have the same texture and flavour. The cheese side was particularly limp, whereas it’s usually a beautiful crispy slice. The sweet cherry pie was also disappointing. The sundried tomatoes were scarce and small, whereas they used to be plump and plentiful. The goat cheese also feels different. It used to be such a lovely mix of salty, savoury and slightly sweet (from the tomatoes). Mind you, the pizza isn’t cheap, so when you’re paying $40 + tip (we always generously tip even for takeout), you expect consistency and a certain quality standard. The funny (and sad) part is that we love the place so much that we bought their ($60) branded sweater, before we came home to find out all the ways Toni did us dirty tonight.
P.s. please change that god awful, never ending monologue of an automated message...
