I tried Pizza Toni for the first time and I wanted to leave a review to help others out who might not know what to expect. I'm originally from NJ and I wanted to try this place because it was supposed to have more "NY style" pizza instead of Montreal style pizza. I will say that the crust was definitely reminiscent of NY style pizza and overall I did like it.

I ordered the eggplant parmesan pizza for myself and the vegan pizza (with 1/2 pepperoni) for my son. I was a bit disappointed with mine because it tasted like the peppers were marinated in something with vinegar. I really hate vinegar which is why I didn't choose the mushroom pizza (since it said it was their marinated mushroom mix) and I didn't want to take the chance of something vinegary. The pizza I ordered mentioned cheese, tomato sauce, heirloom peppers and eggplant. I can't 100% for sure say it was vinegar, but it was definitely not just plain peppers as they were very tangy and that taste overwhelmed the entire pizza for me. So I can't say if I would have fully liked it or not. I think if I had gotten plain cheese, or if you could choose your toppings, I would have liked it more.

My son got the vegan cheese pizza and he really loved the vegan cheese and the pizza itself. I took a bite and I thought the vegan cheese tasted really good. I got 1/2 pepperoni because he really likes pepperoni, but some places are too spicy for him. He has GI issues and so if he eats spicy foods it aggravates his system. Unfortunately although he loved the taste of the pepperoni, he found they were very spicy for him (he's only 10). So I just want to give that caveat to anyone concerned with that. If you like spicy or it doesn't bother you, you will probably like it.

The other downside is that the pizzas are VERY expensive. I knew this ahead of time on their website, but I'm just letting people know in case. For me, it was a fun splurge but not something I would order that regularly. It was $87 for 2 pizzas and a hot honey dip, although I did also add pepperoni to a pizza that doesn't normally have it so it might have been extra.

I did find the pizzeria to have a nice atmosphere and there were lots of young people hanging out and eating pizza. The restaurant did not seat large numbers, but it still felt spacious and looked very clean. Everyone working there was nice and they looked happy.

I really do think that for someone who is not sensitive to vinegar, they would probably really like it. I just don't have an adventurous palate for that kind of stuff. Also, I ordered some hot honey on the side to drizzle on my pizza and it was...

look generally I’m pretty lenient with lazy customer service but I ain’t finna let this one slide.

tell me why I go to order some slices and a dipping sauce, I pay, cashier lady gives me my sauce, then I’m waiting, waiting, waiting.

on god like fifteen minutes go by, atp the cashier lady is on break chilling on her phone in the lobby.

I’m still waiting like … aight 😐

I go up to the counter and ask another cashier, i’m like “hey I think my slices are good now”

new cashier checks the oven. not a slice to be seen. I’m like ??? wt was I waiting for then ??

New cashier asks me if I paid yet. I say yes. Then she starts going through EACH receipt trying to find my order, and since I was waiting for literally ever, best believe there were many a reciept..

Aight so I’m not waiting here all day, I cut her off and I point to the cashier on break. I’m like Her, she took my order 15 minutes ago. Sorry to snitch sis but I got places to be and just paid twenty bucks for 2 slices of pizza

So new cashier goes around, asks old cashier if I paid. She looks up at me, looks me in the eyes and says “I Have No Clue”.

HUH???

what we’re not gonna do here is LIE. Wdym you don’t remember ?? there was like no one in the lobby waiting except for me???? you really thought I’m just loitering here ???

Nah fr that pssd me off. new cashier walks back over looking like she bout to make me pay again. thankfully I remember that at on-break cashier gave me the dipping sauce (only part of her job she did correctly I guess) so I show her that I already got my garlic thing. she says “oh ok” THEN puts my slices in the oven.

now tf is that about ??? again, I get bad customer service cause ain’t nobody like it but cmon at least say sorry for the confusion or something ???? Like damn y’all really gonna make me wait 30 mins just to reheat some pizza slices ?? That’s crazy

Pizza was good tho...

My partner and I have been ordering pizza from here consistently since it opened, and we’ve always raved about it to anyone who’d listen. Tonight we ordered our 3rd pizza in the last 3 weeks, and we are so shocked and disappointed at how much the quality and consistency have degraded over time! They were little changes at first that we attributed to “off days” but it is now clear that the Pizza Toni of the past is no more. The pizza is 2 inches smaller, for starters, and the quality of the ingredients has gone down significantly. It’s no longer the experience it once was. We always order half pepperoni and half sweet cherry pie, with everything seasoning crust. Today, we got half cheese instead of pepp and it’s the second time that we get sesame instead of everything seasoning. I even asked the person packing the pizza if he used everything seasoning, and he looked at me dead faced and said yes. The dough used to be delicious and you can just taste that it doesn’t have the same texture and flavour. The cheese side was particularly limp, whereas it’s usually a beautiful crispy slice. The sweet cherry pie was also disappointing. The sundried tomatoes were scarce and small, whereas they used to be plump and plentiful. The goat cheese also feels different. It used to be such a lovely mix of salty, savoury and slightly sweet (from the tomatoes). Mind you, the pizza isn’t cheap, so when you’re paying $40 + tip (we always generously tip even for takeout), you expect consistency and a certain quality standard. The funny (and sad) part is that we love the place so much that we bought their ($60) branded sweater, before we came home to find out all the ways Toni did us dirty tonight.

P.s. please change that god awful, never ending monologue of an automated message...

*Edited at the end* Good food Bad service. Arrived at 8:35pm to order a pizza (half pepperoni half all dressed), i was like okay I’ll be waiting outside, he replies yh but if you’re not here before 9:00 we will be closed and that was rude cz i literally said I’ll be waiting outside. Still we waited until 9:08 for the pizza to be ready, took it outside and found out its a half pepperoni half marguerita! I went back in and told him, he’s like ohh sorry and waits for me to leave without even arguing, which is what I did because obviously he meant “we’re closing we cant bake anymore”. So technically I paid for all dressed and only gor served a marguerita. 2 mins later i go back inside asking for some oil and he says it’s 4$ the dip. So he didn’t even want to make up for his mistake and rudeness by at least offering the oil dip. Honestly that was really disappointing, not only didn’t get our choice of pizza, but got serviced poorly knowing he had a chance to fix it but only made it worse. Anyway the pizza is very tasty, they also have a nice option of adding sesame on the crust, my favorite is their pepperoni. For a 20’ dia, prices are only fair. Edit: On a personal note, we later got a free pizza with some dips on our next visit. This was arranged by email with Alex, who explained and apologized. That was nice and professional for the record.

Review: Pizza Toni I tried a half Margherita and half pepperoni pizza for $40. The dough was thin and crispy, but unfortunately, it tasted like a piece of cheap toasted bread. Actually, it was pretty similar to the dough you might find on certain frozen pizzas from your local IGA. Not a far stretch at all. The pizza didn’t have much sauce and was very dry. The little sauce that was there had almost no flavor. The basil was fresh. The cheese? Honestly, I don’t even remember tasting any. I barely saw any cheese on the pizza either. Overall, I’d give the Margherita a 6 out of 10. The one good thing was the oil they used, which did have a nice flavor. Now for the pepperoni side. They used tiny pieces of pepperoni, and the dough had the same issue. It just tasted cheap. Again, barely any sauce and cheese, and what was there was bland. This place is definitely overrated and overpriced for what you get. Overall, I’d rate this place a 6 out of 10. Rating this place a 6 is me being generous. Would I go back? Definitely No.

Decided to head down to the mile end and get a taste of Pizza Toni. We ordered the all-dressed pizza pie for pickup and by the time we got there it was ready, hot and cooked to perfection. Pizza is New York style. Had some flop to the slice and the tangy tomato sauce was quite tingly to the taste, in other words, delicious. The mushrooms seem to be from the canned or bottled variety which comprised of some sliced marinated button and oyster mushrooms. I would have preferred some fresh sliced mushrooms but that is my preference. Roasted peppers were used as well instead of the standard sliced green peppers, again would have preferred fresh sliced green peppers, but I guess my palate is not sophisticated enough for deviating from the standard all dress pizza, but I digress. Overall I would rate it a 7.3 out of 10, which is really a good and tasty pizza.
