Unpleasant Experience at I Am Pho in Downtown Montreal.
I recently visited I Am Pho, located at 1444 St Mathieu St, Montreal, Quebec H3H 2H9, for lunch on Saturday with a friend, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. From the start, we did not receive a warm welcome or even a friendly greeting from the staff, which set a negative tone. To make matters worse, I found sand in my salad. While I chose not to address this at the time to avoid embarrassment, it was unacceptable. When we requested containers to take the leftover food, the staff responded with complaints and were not polite. The quality of the noodles was also concerning- they were dry, elastic, and difficult to eat, suggesting they might not have been fresh. Despite these issues, I decided to customize the tip according to the level of service received. Unfortunately, the staff became rude, even shouting that the tip I left wasn’t sufficient. Finally, I ordered two Imperial Rolls for my child, which they packed in a container to go. However, when I got home and opened it, I found only the rolls, without the lettuce and other garnishes that were shown in the photos. On their website or menu, the rolls are presented with salad items, but these were missing from my order.
If you are expecting fresh food, respect, and good customer service, I would not recommend this restaurant. They seem more focused on tips and money rather than providing a good...
Read moreIf I could I would give this restaurant 0 stars. First of all the waitress was not welcoming at all. I came in with my friend and we said hi and she just stared at us head to toe. We ordered 2 soups, imperial rolls and a soft drink. I accidentally knocked over my drink and the waitress saw it happen and just stared at me. My friend had to ask her to bring some napkins because the whole can spilled on my pants and on the ground. Even at that this woman gave me 3 napkins. The floor was completely covered with the drink and so my shoes were soaking in the soft drink. Two other employees passed by and saw me but did not do anything about it. Normally, you would switch the customer at a different table or mop the floor but these 3 employees continued to stare at me and do nothing while I struggled to keep my feet up all the while trying to eat. Second of all, the imperial rolls were so hard that we could barely chew on them. Clearly it was left over from before and they fried it over and over and served it to us. I don't usually write these types of reviews nor do write such a long review but they got my blood boiling. After leaving and reaching home I also realized that they overcharged us 5$ for something we did not take. Not only are they rude and unprofessional but they are thieves as well. Check your bills before you pay. That's a mistake I made. First and last experience at...
Read morehomophobic owner.
me and my girlfriend have been loyal customers to this place for years since the pho was genuinely one of our favourites and the location was convenient. we noticed a shift in the owner’s attitude once he caught on that we were queer. he stopped personally serving us or even greeting us as he did before. but we paid it no mind since we weren’t sure. the last time we went, he did not greet nor serve us as per usual. but what was the cherry on top, was the fact that he forced my girlfriend to tip by plugging 2$ in the machine after the bill was paid and he claimed that « she hadn’t paid »- keep in mind my gf is always a generous tipper despite being a student, we simply didn’t have the means to tip much that one time and it never seemed to be an issue when this was the case any prior time. his attitude was extremely entitled with zero respect for us as regular customers, he did not even look us in the eyes. as queer people, we recognized this as micro aggression immediately and were very sad and disappointed. do with this information...
