I wrote this review 3 years ago: “The best izAkaya in mtl. Every other place is #2” Then some things happened, yadda, yadda, yadda, and we only went back this past Sunday. I find that after 3 years most of the restaurants that we visit these days got more expensive and the quality went down. However with Otto, the opposite is true!!! The yakitori that we tried were as amazing as we remembered them, and then the bone soup is the best we ever had in Montreal. Even if it is a Korean specialty Otto makes better than any other Korean place that we tried it at. It is more unctuous, more smooth, there is more meat that is cooked to perfection! The amount of spice is just right as well. We tried other dishes that we never had before as well as I think they added new options to the menu. The service is amazing as well: not just quick and efficient but also attentive and helpful! Koko and Bobo made sure that they answered all our questions and were very patient with our little kids as well making sure they have a great time. It was such a nice relaxing evening! We will go back soon and often!!! (The desert was also delicious, the kids could not even wait for the picture as you can see…)

Ordered a few skewers, chicken wings were soft... low lit lights didn't allow to see if the chicken was cooked or not. Ordered a set of Otto skewers. Again, we had the chicken wings, but this time round, we checked, and it was raw. Even though knowing the skewers were under and RAW. Paid for the meal. And the waitress was, instead of apologetic was upset we didn't tip. And had told them the food was raw. Raw chicken isn't a joke. Maybe have the chefs checked out to see if they know how to cook chicken properly or any other food items to avoid our food POISONING we had last night. customers shouldnt or need to require to tell you that food is raw especially when its was the 2nd time round of ordering. On top of that our 2nd order was forgotten. What an absolute joke. Don't be all sour because we didn't tip. Seek your manager or owner and deal with it umonsg yourselves. In this situation, the meal shouldn't even be charged. Have a little more professionalism and reflec on your customer service skills and health and food safety for customers who attend the restaurant.

I’ve been at least 7 times this year and every time I took different people with me. I was never let down and all the individuals I took absolutely loved it too. Their chicken/lamb skewers are very tender and tasty. I love that nothing is really marinated, very simple and yet more delicious than meats elsewhere. The Brussels sprout side dish (yes Brussels sprouts!) is really delicious and everyone was surprised by it. My favorite is the Karubi which is the marinated short ribs. I’ve tried the fried roll, curry, grilled squid, edamame, kimchi and fried chicken too. All were good. Kimchi is average, the roll has large pieces of shrimp but without the side sauce maybe just normal. My friends tried liver and heart and really liked it. The curry is good and I love the little pickles they put on it. The chicken is just a bit dry in it - I still order it every time though as it is delicious.

Cozy and casual place, nice servers and chill clientèle. The service is a bit slow but it matches the chill vibe I guess and it’s a place where you want to just sit back and chat with friends anyways. I like how it is on the darker side but maybe a little bit more small lights here and there could make it better.

It’s not cheap, but not really expensive either. When I go with my husband, without drinks and enough food to really get full, our bill with tax and tip comes out to about 50$ (we order a good variety though and eat well - you could still get...

We were there around 10pm on Friday the 3rd August. We were a group of 6 people. I have to say the first impression was not too bad for the first time. We ordered and waited for our food. Since it was a friend outing our order was separate. We started to receive our food one by one and at some point the waitress was mixed up and asked us a question which wasn't too clear so we tried to explain who order what. But instead of listening she gestured us with the finger to quiet so she can talk. Once she got the answer she wanted she gave the food and left. We were taken by surprise. Then as the time pass one of us (my brother) never received a single thing so we decide to let them know. The only thing they told us is because his order was longer too make. It was weird since he ordered only 3 "brochette". After a while every one received their food excepted my brother. So I called them out again since it was getting ridiculous with the rude service from before. This time I talked with Eric the manager there. He told us sorry and made sure my brother got his food right away. Not only that he brought all of us free shots twice to excuse for the behaviour and the tardiness. Other than the behaviour of that waitress we were very pleased with the way they solved the problem and service. From someone who went to Japan, this place is the most authentic Izakaya I went in Montréal. 10/10 would...

Visited this restaurant for a late night snack. The servers were extremely friendly and was very detailed in explaining and recommending us dishes.

We ordered a platter of chicken yakitori. We paid an additional $2 to opt for no organs. All the skewers were absolutely delicious. The only complaint we have is that the skewers need a little more salt. We weren't really a fan of the seasoning that came with it on the side because it was a little too spicy for us. So, if it was a bit saltier, it would've been perfect, then the skewers wouldn't require additional seasoning. The pork belly was pretty good too. As for the mushrooms, I feel like it was a little pricey for the portion... not that worth it.

Also tried the scallops, they were pretty fresh.

Additionally, we ordered the beef tartare. This was delicious, it was the weekly special. If this is ever on the menu, you must order it! They are very generous with the portions and I love how they pair the tartare with beet chips. It's was really delicious, nice combination!

As for drinks, we ordered the matcha calpico. This drink was pretty unique. Never had this combination before, worth a try!

Overall, love that it's open late, definitely recommended in visiting if it's late and you're hungry or if you're looking for a place to chill with friends. They serve beer and other...
