Mustleading consummer! Unlike @Nick Beck, @Paul Alisir and @meghan Mackenzie and a few more ... we read the review on google about a good Authentic Pho restaurant in downtown with a small terrace and good Pho and grilled pork chop and decided to give it a try. First there was no terrace at all. Then why not give the food a try. But to our DISAPPOUNTMENT the Pho, Bún Bo hue were mediocre, far from authentic (especially the bún bo hue since clearly they used the same broth for the pho and add some spices) and there was no pork chops and the price was before taxes not taxes in. :( two days later I was in the same area and saw that a few doors down on the same block there is actually another PHO restaurant with a terrace, I AM PHO, so I gave it a try and heaven, I think the other consummers made a mistake with their reviews. The Soup is the closest to the authentic Pho I’ve ever had. The waitress was friendly and service was fast. I took their pork chop to go since it is very affordable for a student like myself (no cooking later) the way they marinate their pork chop is finger licking good). Now that I look at some of the pictures other reviewers posted it is clearly that they are talking about the restaurant I AM PHO if you compare the tables. Anyway I’m disappointed at the misleading reviews and the quality I had at Pho Nguyen now that I found something so much better two doors away at...
Read moreThis pho spot has consistent, good quality with their noodle soups and appetizers! It is reasonably priced for what you get, and a really good deal for the chicken wings. I think my biggest recommendation would be the chicken wings from this place.
9 pc chicken wings: $10.50 Large pho: $13.95 Large bun bo hue: $14.25 All tax included
I think that considering tax is included, this is one of the best priced pho spots in Montreal. I prefer the bun bo hue over the pho, but they are both consistently tasty, and they do not skimp out on the amount of meat, not the most incredible broth ever but definitely good. The large portion is definitely enough to feed one person, as I personally think that the small is much too small. The chicken wings are wonderfully seasoned, and fried cripsy, served with fish sauce. That is my favourite part of the entire meal, and at that price point, if you calculated it backwards before tax, it comes out to around $1 per wing which is a very good price.
The service is definitely quick at this busy spot, and though it may feel unfriendly, they refill water often and it is easy to ask any server if you need anything. The tables are quite small and cramped, and we were seated near the door during winter, so it was quite a cold spot every time someone opened the door (delivery drivers and other customers). Overall a...
Read morePho nguyen is a Vietnamese restaurant with a variety of plate, going there i tried their beef, and shrimp plate the portion was nice and I felt full after. The sauce that you usually put on your rice or meat/roll was also great, but sadly as an asian food enthusiast, the beef seemed to have great seasoning (not perfect), but its texture was far too elastic, and this is not what I was looking for in vietnamese cuisine, the portion of rice they gave me tasted like "oldish" rice, or one they would have left too long on the side. It is most likely they finished to cook the plate while I was still eating my soup and they left it facing the air. The establishment is put, in a sort of basement(its not under the street outside, but its not on the same level and you have to take stairs. The place is quite small but i think they didn't use to its best potential the space that they had as customer you dont have that much space, and I think it's not correctly isolated, I felt cold all along, pratically as if the a/c was on, but the door was mostly closed. Best thing there , was there soup, but it wasn't extraordinary. The price was ok, but not worth it, maybe if it would have been lower, I would not have foud that many flaws...
