I've been going to Itamea ever since it opened on Beaubien and Chabot. They have Itamea Sushi and Itamea Restaurant (Beaubien/Chambord), which has probably been open for over 10 years now. They eventually sold the restaurant on Chabot and kept only the restaurant on Beaubien. The owner knows me and my sisters; whenever we went in, we would chat with her and her son. Just to let you know that I'm a long-standing and loyal customer!
As the restaurant had a different menu, it was my go-to place. I recently went to the restaurant, and I can say with certainty that it's the last time I'm going there. Recently, I've experienced terrible customer service. The lady who's always there (the one who recently got a new look...) has been extremely impolite. Whenever I go, I order spicy mayo, which costs about $1.75.
She made me pay for my order, then got distracted and forgot to print the receipt. When she came back to the cash register, she told me that I had to pay. When I told her I had already paid, she kept saying, "No, you didn't pay," and I said, "Yes, I did." I said, "Let me grab my phone. I'll connect to my online bank to prove it." I went to the car, grabbed my phone, and connected to my bank. The fact that she didn't believe me annoyed me, especially since she sees me pretty often. Why would I steal from you now?
I asked her if she had added the spicy mayo, and she said no. "You need to pay for it. I didn't include it in the price." I told her that I had mentioned needing a spicy sauce before paying. I told her it was her mistake and that I couldn't charge my card for a $2 product. She said, "Yes, you will charge my card." I asked her if she could offer it to me this time since I had mentioned it and it hadn't been included in the price. She refused. I said you can offer it; you've known me for years. She wanted nothing to do with me, though, and walked away while I was still talking to her. She was talking to one of the cooks in Vietnamese, explaining the situation. I felt so disrespected.
I told her that I'm a loyal customer, that her treatment of me was unacceptable, and that she was a mean person for treating people this way.
I left the restaurant, vowing to never go back. My sisters had a similar experience about five years ago and haven't been back since. (The review is available on Google as well.)
I was still going to the restaurant because it's in the neighborhood and they have affordable prices. However, it's time for me to find a new sushi restaurant in the area. If you have any suggestions, PLEASE...

So yes, I know. There's a lots of snow, it's hard to drive, I know I went out to do groceries... With my car... So we expected it to take a bit longer. The thing is, after 50 minutes, we decided to call to see where our order was. I was put on hold and asked to wait while they call the delivery guy... At that point I wasn't mad or anything, just curious as to where my food was. I was simply told that the guy would be there soon (6 minutes to be exact). We waited another 20 minutes at least. When the delivery guy arrived, he barely said hi and then shoved the terminal in my face. I didn't even get an apology or anything barely one word. Not even from the guy on the phone when I called. In my book, that is awful customer service. So I didn't leave any tips. And the delivery guy turned around to complain (because now you can talk?)

Read moreI ordered delivery from this restaurant a few nights ago for a friend I had over and myself. While she was eating a spring roll she found a large bug inside the spring roll.
I called the restaurant the next day asking for a refund but they wouldn't give it to me saying the spring roll was just burnt and that they would give me a free meal on my next order. I told them I wasn't planning on ever eating at their restaurant again but I agreed because I saw they were trying to make things better.
I called back today and they changed their mind and would only give me a free order of spring rolls. I am extremely disappointed with the service I received.
