Thés Guru is a lovely store that carries an exceptional collection of high quality teas. The tea master is incredibly knowledgeable and offers expert advice to clients. The tea accessories are carefully selected and are very beautiful to purchase. All that said, however, I think the concept is missing a very vital aspect of tea which is: hospitality. The staff and servers are quite abrupt, occasionally rude, inattentive to clients, are often found in the back and it takes them a long time to recognize there are customers and come to the front to serve them. They do not have the expertise to make a proper tea or a matcha latte, as every time the drinks and tea taste different (no consistency whatsoever). They often seem unhappy and greet customers with frowns and tired expressions that makes one question whether they are being paid or treated properly at their job. Moreover, they are always rushing customers to leave at least 30 minutes before closing time. In short, you do not feel welcomed, which goes against tea culture. They certainly do not promote their products nor the culture of tea. I have been to Thés Guru repeatedly but have always been disappointed by the service. I think it really needs improvement and the owner must really decide whether their concept is just to sell tea or to promote a tea culture for people to enjoy and experience. I think focusing on the latter would set them apart from other tea rooms in the city and can really elevate their business. Best of luck and hope to see...
Read moreIf I could I would give them 6⭐️ We went today at 6872 St-Hubert, Mtl, one of their locals. Right on the Plaza St-Hubert. I booked a maccha fondue for St Valentine. I brought my 96 year old Japanese mother in law and my husband. We also booked a private tea ceremony. I wanted my in law to see this. Bought our tickets online and arrived 15 min early. The whole staff is fantastic and helpful at all times. Decorations and set up is unbelievably beautiful and looks authentic. We were first treated to fresh fruits and snacks (we skipped lunch after) for the fondue.
We ate everything! Beautiful presentation and tasty treats. With tea.
Then, they rang a gong and asked us to follow them on the tatamis for the private tea ceremony.
Wonderfull lady did individual tea making for all 3 of us in one ceremony. The decor was perfect, her movements perfect, we felt like we were in Japan.
She explained everything patiently. After all of this, my mother in law was very impressed and we purchased tea cups, tea kettle a tea boat (board) for pouring and a happy coat.
It was our first time, found it on facebook, so glad we went. I would highly recommend this one of a kind experience. Reasonably priced.
Great job y’all Merci!

Today, I ordered a bag of hojicha as a birthday gift for a friend. As a special instruction, I asked them to include a note for my friend, wishing her a happy birthday. To my surprise, a few hours later, she had received the package. To my even greater surprise, they had also delivered it in a beautiful package, and had handwritten the note!! (I had expected them to simply print it out, as it was about a paragraph long.)
Even before the quarantine when I first stumbled across the store, I had expressed interest in understanding tea more, and the guy at the counter patiently explained how to prepare oolong tea, and what is pu-er tea. I ended up buying the milky oolong tea, as well as a few of their chocolates, after he explained that they made it in-house with their teas and gave me some samples.
Every single experience with them has been characterised by above-and-beyond customer service and products. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a visit to these guys, whether their online store or their brick and...
