June 7th, we celebrated my father’s 85th birthday at Le Jacques Cartier, and the experience was absolutely outstanding. From the moment we arrived at this charming spot in Old Montreal (444 Place Jacques-Cartier), everything was perfect. The food was delicious—every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. Our entire party was impressed by the quality and variety. The service was exceptional as well: warm, professional, and genuinely attentive. The staff made us feel welcome and cared, helping to create a relaxed and joyful atmosphere for our family. Celebrating such a meaningful milestone in such a lovely setting made the day truly unforgettable. A heartfelt thank you to the team at Le Jacques Cartier—you helped make my father's 85th birthday incredibly special. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for excellent food and service in a beautiful location.

The best part I recommend about this restaurant is about the sea food quality which was very fresh and super tasty! I loved the butterfly shrimp which came with garlicy pasta and some grilled vegetables, the shrimp cooked the way it melt in the mouth, it was so good! Service was ok, atmosphere is a very casual and not a fancy restaurant; however I liked the rocky wall with famous photo frames on it , that was artistic and nice! I would recommend this restaurant if you want to have a delicious plate and you are not going there with any kids as this restaurant doesn’t have neither high chair nor changing plate which was abit strange specially for changing plate. We went with friends who have kid and it was not convenient for them from this aspect! I would suggest to add these two for the restaurant.

Definitely a tourist trap ! Stay Away ! Overpriced food with below average quality and subpar services. The pizza was miserable, so oily & tasteless. The menu mentioned pesto, oregano & goats cheese. There was barely anything on it. Just flavourless pizza sauce and loads of cheese. How do you go wrong with a pizza. Had Salmon tartare, eggplant parmigiana as well and both very average when it comes to quality of food. Additionally the service sucked, broken glass, no salt pepper on table, zoned out server. We were supposed to get dessert with the meal, the waiter didn’t even bother to get it.

Absolutely nothing redeeming about this tourist trap -- and we are locals!

We were 11 people including children.

Waited over a half hour before any waiter said hello, never mind took our order. In the end one waitress started the order, then another waiter took over -- this should have been a sign of the terrible service to follow.

With hungry kids and lots of waiting, we waited and waited for bread. Pretty basic, but we needed to ask repeatedly. It arrived hot of the oven, over baked. At least it finally came.

The orders were all mixed up and did not arrive at the same time. At least the restaurant was kind enough to serve the kids' food last. Did I mention they were very hungry after a day in Old Montreal?

Pastas were no more than decent, the steak, asked for medium, was very thin and cooked well-done.

All the terrible service above, I sat patiently through, but at the end of the meal and just after I finished paying, our waiter who barely said two words during the whole night, insulted my family. I was outraged. The manager blamed the computer system for all the mix ups and delays. I was offered no discount and only a very shallow apology.

Overall, over priced and horrible experience. Eat...

I went for Lunch. I ordered a drip Coffee to start, a French Onion soup and a Chicken Cesar salad. Eventually the Salad arrived, first. Shortly after followed by a fairly small (100 ml) cup of coffee that was lure warm. I requested the drip Coffee to be replaced with hot drip coffee. After a few bites into the salad the soup arrived. The soup lacked flavours. Salt would be helpful but not on table. The salad without lemon, dressing was bland and chicken a bit dry. Nearly finished the lunch when the waitress came asking how the soup was. I honestly let her know that a French Onion soup should have some wine in it. She would let the kitchen know. I can't imagine nobody had mentioned it before, I guess the Italian Don't use wine. I also inquired about the Coffee. Apologies. New small cup was filled from same coffee pot, than microwaved. At least it was hot, though close to end of the meal. No refills on the tiny cups had been offered. Than came the bill. Any good restaurant would have waved the messed up coffee. Instead the one cup was $4.95. The total was over $40.- before tips. Way overpriced for the underwhelming, terrible and tasteless lunch. I will...

Where do I start......If I had a 0 rating, that's what I would give Basically one of the worst place I ever ate - McDonalds would have been better First, we don't even have the time to sit and check the menu that the waitress was already asking for our orders My mom and I ordered a pizza, it was ok but the crust was weird, as if it was done on a pita bread, not pizza dough My husband ordered a steak......to this day, we don't even know what kind of meat it was. It tasted strange, as if it had started to rotten; the meat was weirdly shape as if several pieces were put together. It definitely didn't look like a steak. The peppercorn sauce was grainy (I'm pretty sure it was a powder sauce) and there was no peppercorn in it. He had ask to be cooked well done but when he received it, it was still red in the middle. We mentionned it to the waitress but then they were arguying with us that it was how he requested it I have to say, $70 for 2 pizzas and 3 beers, this is quite expensive Please avoid at all cost, I don't even understand why this place...
