Old-world charm of Rue Saint-Paul In Old Montréal Canada Here are some clips from my walk on Rue Saint-Paul (Saint Paul Street) in the Old Montreal historic area of Montreal, Quebec in Canada. Paved in 1672, it is Montreal’s oldest street and was named after Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve, founder of Montreal, who built a home for himself on it in 1650. The street is home to such landmarks as the Bonsecours Market and Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel. The first clip features @vieuxportsteakhouse with floral installation by @drinspireinc. As it was my first time in Montreal, I’d heard about Bonsecours Market and was hoping to check it out, but with the weather not cooperating and me staying outside of Old Montreal, I wasn’t sure I’d make it. Luckily, I ended up with one beautiful day, so I decided to go for it—and after walking around 12.5 kilometers, I finally stumbled upon the market. At first, I was just charmed by the architecture—the building itself is beautiful and feels like something pulled from another era. But once I got inside, I was grateful to find a clean restroom (a win for any traveler), and a few cute shops where I managed to pick up a souvenir mug for myself and a gift for my girlfriend back in Toronto. As an American tourist, it’s clear this market is geared toward visitors, but I honestly didn’t mind. The prices were reasonable, and the whole space had a relaxed, welcoming vibe. Definitely worth the stop if you’re exploring Old Montreal and want to browse, shop, or just enjoy the historic setting.

Located in the heart of Old Town Montreal, Bonsecours Market is a captivating mix of history, culture, and diverse flavors. The moment you step inside, you're transported to a different era, surrounded by impressive architecture and a lively atmosphere.

The market boasts an array of stalls, each with its own unique story to tell. From handmade crafts to local specialties, there's a wide variety to discover. Our favorite part was exploring the artisanal crafts and one-of-a-kind souvenirs, showcasing the incredible talents of local artists.

When it comes to food, Bonsecours Market is a foodie's dream. The culinary offerings reflect Montreal's rich cultural diversity. From classic Quebecois dishes to international flavors, the market is a haven for those who love good food. We couldn't resist trying some local specialties, and the poutine, in particular, stood out with its delicious combination of crispy fries, rich gravy, and perfectly melted cheese curds.

The market's ambiance is bustling, with both locals and tourists contributing to the vibrant energy. It's a fantastic place to soak in the city's atmosphere while exploring the unique offerings at each stall.

The historical Bonsecours Market building itself is a work of art, adding to the overall charm of the experience. The architecture is a nod to a different time, and the market's role as a historical landmark gives the visit an extra layer of significance.

While the market is a definite must-visit, be prepared for crowds, especially during busy times. Navigating through the lively stalls may require a bit of patience, but the overall experience is...

There are many kiosks to choose from some more pricey than others, with many Boutiques providing products made in Québec.

I aquired a reversable coat here with wool on one side and a rain/windbreaker material on the other. I have also bought other coats elsewhere and seem to always reach for this one instead.

I am very pleased with all of my purchases. I picked up a few tops that wash very well and look brand new despite being washed so many times over the years. There are unique jewelery pieces with various price points.

The Bonsecours Market is great in any kind of weather or when you want to escape the wind, heat or rain.

In the summer months there is a Pub, Café and Sushi place to enjoy.

Bonsecours Market also hosts Events (wine show etc.) and offer Hall rentals (nice place to have your wedding) with stunning views that can accomodate either a small or larger event.

This is an attractively designed architectural building that is one (1) in ten (10) of Canada's finest Heritage Buildings.

Bonsecours Market housed Parliament for a short time, when the Saint Anne Market (United Canada's interm Parliament) was burned down by rioters.

It also, was home to City Hall for about twenty-five (25) years.

The shopping interior structure is nothing to write home about. Inside are some items for purchase (my coat was a reasonable price so were my tops) or you can even do some window shopping.

Update:

There are many shops throughout Old Montréal to pick up Souvenirs at a...
