Some of our food was good, some was not great. Atmosphere is cramped and loud, there were flies flying around inside the restaurant. It's a nice spot and a nice place, just felt like they could improve here. The servers were nice, but they were very slow, they checked on us once to see if we liked the food, but then never came back to bring us more water or to see if we wanted desert or anything.
We had the Tomato salad, Ceviche, Fried chicken, Jerk Chicken, Griot and Grilled fish as well as 5 cocktails. The fried chicken was delicious, the Griot was some of the best in Montreal, but the jerk chicken was horribly dry, the chicken was TINY, it felt like I was eating quail.
The Jerk chicken is 25$ on the menu, but after getting home and looking at my receipt, they charged us 32$ per portion (we ordered two portions to share).
The grilled fish was supposed to be 40$, they charged us 45$.
We were also charged 2$ more per drink than what was priced on the menu.
The bill for 4 people ended up over 325$ (before tip) with 5 drinks, a bottle of soda water, 4 appetizers and 3 mains.
For the price, the experience we had was...
Read moreFood was exceptional as well as the drinks. But I gave 2 stars for the service. Our waiter from Haiti does not know how to read the room. First he approached our table with a joke but it came across like an insult so it set us up poorly to begin with. Then, he only spoke to my boyfriend THE ENTIRE NIGHT. We were joking amongst ourselves that our waiter was in love. There were a group of 4 of us together and the 3 of us gave up at one point and just continued chatting between us since we were obviously not of any interest to our waiter. Not to mention, I’m paying the bill for myself and my partner and leaving the tip, so I’d appreciate some decency? He did not look at me once, he took my boyfriends order first, would randomly shake his hand, talked to him the entire time, ignored all the rest of us, made weird jokes, smelled like cigarettes, recommended things twice after we said we were not interested, and he waited so long to take our order but claimed he was letting us chat while we were wondering why he was taking so long. We would all go back but we’d hope to get a...
Read moreWhat a unique culinary experience of an underrepresented cuisine - modern Caribbean. Delicious and wonderfully spiced dishes. We had the hummus, shrimp and braised pork to start, absolutely delicious, the pork was so tender and paired very well with the plantain fritters and vinegar coleslaw.
Mains consisted of vegetable curry, jerk chicken and the lamb shank, all seasoned to perfection and comforting, I really felt the love.
Do yourself a favour and order the sweet potato dessert, a mix between pumpkin pie and spice cake, perfect for fall and winter. Coffee with coconut milk and rum is a must.
Friendly, courteous and quick service in a cozy and homey atmosphere, music not too loud (this is a pet peeve of mine and this place absolutely passed the test). Even though the restaurant was full, there was a nice calm vibe throughout the entire service.
The owner came to our table and chatted with us which is always a nice touch, definitely recommend for an intimate...
