We had seen good things about The Honeyrose Hotel in Montreal and booked a few days to try a new place while revisiting a city neither my hubby nor I had visited in some time. As we decided to drive to Montreal from an earlier travel stop in the Catskills, we also chose the Honeyrose as there is a parking garage for the hotel where we could leave our car for a reasonable daily fee. The hotel worked out very well. It's in the heart of the city and we could easily walk to Old Montreal as well as the main thoroughfare of Rue St. Catherine. For sightseeing farther afield, right around the corner from the hotel was a Metro stop to access to take around town. Excellent system, by the way. Clean and efficient with maps to see your stops or where to change for the line (green, orange, blue) that would take you to where you wanted to be. As for the hotel itself, our room was large and very comfortable for a standard King. Plenty of room to spread out with a very comfortable bed. Interesting shower and bathroom setup as frosted pink glass doors and walls for both shower and bathroom walls that weren't part of a solid room wall. But, also a thick curtain at the entrance to pull closed if needed. We had no issues with that. I also appreciated that the shower was large and had a handheld shower head as well as a separate rainfall shower. You could use one or the other or both together. At the sink area, there's a large mirror with wrap around lighting that could be adjusted for brightness as well as a separate makeup mirror to pull out from the wall for any close-up, detailed work to be done. That made me very happy. The hotel also had a beautiful Wellness floor with a pool, outdoor area with chaise lounges to relax on with a full gym as well as a workout studio where one could book a class. Looked wonderful, though we didn't take advantage, given our schedule. There is also a very nice restaurant along with a separate cafe. We took advantage of both, having nightly drinks at the restaurant bar before heading out to explore as well as having a proper dinner on our last night where we had the delightful Delphine as our waitress. She was charming and lovely and answered any questions thoroughly. The food was quite good and well prepared. The cafe area off the main restaurant was perfect for a simple light breakfast, which was our preference. Croissants and coffee before heading out for our day, though there were other light breakfast and lunch bites. The main hotel restaurant also serves breakfast and brunch but more for a leisurely, full start to one's day--eggs, French toast, potatoes, etc. All in all the hotel worked out well for us. Good location. Lovely, helpful staff. Comfortable large room. And good location for many of Montreal's...
Read moreWe came here for our wedding.
We first arrived and had a very charming person welcoming us who even upgraded our reservation.
But then, surdently he had to leave us to another colleague. I have traveled around the world in a lot of luxury hotels and I first off didn't expected that but I tried to be understanding.
Good points were the Art Deco decoration which is perfectly accurate with the Art style.
The swimming pool is at a good temperature me, the space is clean and the spa had a good temperature too. The sauna is perfect even tho it's not a sauna you're allowed to put water on the stones.
We went to our room and after a bunch of hours I dressed more casual to have a tour in the hotel.
A guy arrived and asked us if we had a "room in the hotel". Like what? Do I look too poor to belong here? Does my casual outfit makes you feel like I should not be visiting the hall of the hotel?
I felt insulted and upset, I dressed way poorly in Asia in every luxury hotels my Father would take me and I was treated wonderfully with care and grace. I'm a little shocked.
So after that my husband decided to head over to the flower shop which I had no interest whatsoever because eternal roses is a huge déjà vu for me.
The amazing gentleman seller kindly notified us that he has "not expensive models" starting at 45$. Again. You don't want to offend the wrong customers, be careful with your words.
We saw the Bluetooth speaker didn't work and they didn't fixed it for us. There is no Spotify or Netflix subscriptions in the rooms and I don't want to enter my own passwords into a hotel so that is something to consider.
A guided tour offering would be a good idea too.
Someone picking up luggage too, maybe?
If you ask for a baby bed, there is no blanket coming with it.
I could be tolerant if my husband didn't get infected the morning after with salmonellosis at the hotel's restaurant the "Commodore".
Also I felt like Friday night is full of escort girls there. Perhaps that is because I don't dress like them that the staff thought I don't...
Read moreWe stayed here for 3 nights from September 17-20, 2024 in room 601, a junior suite. My partner previously stayed here last September just after it opened and he really wanted to stay here again. We travelled from Nova Scotia. The public/shared areas of the Honeyrose are beautifully designed and the attention to detail can be seen everywhere. I really liked the elevators and hallways leading to guest rooms. I would recommend they get rid of the fake greenery that hangs from the upper walls in the lobby, it’s a little tacky compared to everything else. Other than that it’s all quite sophisticated. The rooms are white, pink and minimalist….an extra comfy chair in the living areas would be a nice addition and maybe a little more art on the walls. The room tv divider was fun to use… I felt like Vanna White spinning the tv around. The bed was extremely comfortable and the pillows were perfect for my comfort. I got used to the shower being so exhibitionist friendly, but I disliked the toilet cubicle… it needs to be soundproof and it definitely wasn’t…too bad. The bathrobes were a favourite….very nice quality as was the hairdryer. The towels wouldn’t dry too well and we had to ask for new ones… which took 2 attempts over 2 days..a negative. The vanity area was very large as was the closet space. Our suite was just overlooking the fifth floor eating/drinks/party area outside. Only on the last night was noise from there a problem. A private event being held there lasted 5 hours until 11 and was quite noisy…keep this in mind when booking rooms nearer that area. The hotel restaurant is nice too, especially for cocktails and breakfast. The location was great for us as it was close walking distance in all directions. If bringing a car, keep in mind the underground parking is very tight, very tight indeed. The best positive was the bed, like I said, I slept very well…the negative was the toilet cubicle..I do wish they would change that. Overall, I...
