Not the most impressive Mexican restaurant I’ve tried in the city. The best thing about this place is probably the convenient location and décor. Steps away from Sherbrooke station, it is very accessible. The interior is colourfully decorated with murals all over the place. Unfortunately the shine of the decorations does not carry over to the quality of the food. The quantities are quite poor for the price – only two tacos per serving with a shy amount of meat. The chicken fajitas were served with corn tortillas instead of flour which is more standard for fajitas. The chicken was cut far too thick, it was in chunks reminiscent of Chinese food rather than thinner cuts. The ratio of vegetables to meat was not good either, the fajitas I was wrapping were dominant in vege which was unsatisfying. The seasoning was just unimpressive as well. The rice was super bland for Mexican rice and the “salad” was like 5 pieces of lettuce and some chopped carrots that weren’t even mixed. Only came with 3 tortillas as well so I had to buy a fourth. I asked for their hot sauce. It was a house-made habanero sauce and was quite good, but it was not flowing. I had to open up the bottle and clean out hardened residue at the top that was blocking it from coming out - no customer should ever have to do this. They had no horchata but with how mid the food was I’m sure that would have disappointed me as well. Service was alright but a bit ingenuine at times. Server got wrapped into conversation with another customer outside and delayed our bill by a bit. This place needs to revamp their recipes, they have the potential to be a lot better than they...
Read moreWe decided to try this restaurant located near our B&B for supper, more or less by chance…and we were delightfully surprised. The decor was playful and very colourful, full of Mexican masks and other artwork; the atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming; the server (a young woman from Mexico who had quite recently arrived in Canada) was very friendly and willing to chat with me in Spanish….Of course what makes a restaurant is the food and we were more than pleased with our choices. We shared a large salad (with plantain, pomegranate and many other interesting ingredients) and fajitas, and these provided more than enough fresh, tasty, healthy, creative and above all delicious fare for two hungry women. The price was also surprisingly good compared to what I’m used to. I highly...
