Rockette Bar — Restaurant in Montreal

Went here a few times and had loads of fun.

I either missed the guy who was taking a cover charge or I got in before they started, but I went there around 930ish or so and didn't pay to get in.

A very cozy atmosphere overall. The dance floor is pretty close to the bar, so you're gonna have better luck at tables and stools on the other side of the room if you're looking for any sort of seat without having people bumping into you.

The drink prices felt a bit average, I only ordered beer and I felt it was pretty fair. I can't say much in terms of mixed drinks. I have to applaud the bar staff, there wasn't a whole lot of people behind the bar, but they were doing miracles making sure nobody was waiting a long time for a drink. Top notch service.

If dancing to poppier, alternative and punk music isn't your thing you may not be too crazy about it. Personally I love it and it's always a good time when you're with complete strangers singing and dancing along to songs.

The person in control of the music the couple of nights I went did a damn good job with keeping a solid amount of variety. The transition of Beach Boys to Joy Division, to Talking Heads to Misfits made for an overall enjoyable time. It's always a plus when a place plays a wide range of genres and groups.

Overall this is a fun place to hang out and enjoy some music. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it if you're looking for an intimate place, as it gets a bit crowded and loud. However if dancing and singing along is in the cards for you, definitely worth...

Great bar however the service is terrible. I had a long, hard day at work and went in, quickly realizing after ordering a double whiskey, that they only accepted cash. I only had 10 bucks on me...like I was broke, and I just wanted a stiff drink. I would've used my credit card, but again...they only accepted cash.

The drink was 7 bucks and I didn't leave a tip, apologizing. Before the glass got the chance to touch my lips, the barman takes it out from my hand and says, "No tip? No drink "

I was stunned. Tips are not mandatory and no server or bartender should guilt a patron into tipping especially if they can't! Or even taking away a drink after I clearly paid the guy!

He just went back to the cash register and gave me back my cash.

This is the reason why I'm strict with tipping. A tip is a bonus for amazing service, not a responsibility of the patron to make up for a low wage.

Really disappointed.

{{{Reply to Max}}}: I've only ever been NOT able to tip 3 times in my life while living here in Montreal...and the bar tenders were cool with it, understanding that just because I'm not rich and rolling in dough, I'm still entitled as a Human being to want a stiff drink after a hard day of work.

Because I'm still buying drinks at the establishment, and I will return more often, and tip when I can.

Expérience décevante au Rockette Bar : Manque de respect et injustice envers les clients

Je suis un client du Rockette Bar depuis 2002 et j'ai toujours apprécié l'ambiance chaleureuse et le service de qualité. Cependant, ma récente visite, ce soir, au bar a été entachée par un incident qui m'a profondément déçu et mis en colère.

Vers 1h45 du matin, après avoir consommé une pinte et une cannette de boisson gazeuse, j'ai demandé une deuxième pinte au bar de l'étage supérieur. J'ai ressenti le besoin de sortir fumer et j'ai alors demandé au barman s'il pouvait garder ma consommation pour moi jusqu'à mon retour. J'ai pris sa promesse au sérieux et je me suis absenté environ 15 minutes.

À mon retour, j'ai demandé au barman de me remettre ma consommation, comme convenu. Cependant, il m'a informé qu'il ne l'avait pas conservée, affirmant que je m'étais absenté pendant trois heures. J'ai tenté de lui expliquer que ce n'était pas le cas, car trois heures d'absence nous mèneraient à 4 heures du matin. Malheureusement, il n'a pas semblé comprendre.

Face à son refus de me restituer ma consommation que j'avais déjà payée, j'ai menacé de porter plainte auprès du patron. Sa réponse m'a choqué : il m'a dit que je pouvais le faire et qu'il s'en fichait. Déçu par son attitude irrespectueuse, j'ai décidé de porter plainte auprès du barman de l'étage inférieur.

Heureusement, le barman de l'étage inférieur a été à l'écoute de ma plainte et a immédiatement remédié à la situation en m'offrant une nouvelle bière gratuitement. Je le salue pour son professionnalisme et sa volonté de rectifier le problème.

Néanmoins, le comportement du barman de l'étage supérieur a gâché ma soirée et ne correspond pas aux objectifs des propriétaires du Rockette Bar. J'ai perdu toute envie de rester au bar pour le reste de la soirée . J'ai alors quitté le bar en colère.En tant que client , je m'attendais à être traité avec respect et à ce que mes demandes soient honorées. Malheureusement, j'ai ressenti un profond sentiment d'injustice voire même de l'humiliation, et de manque de respect de la part de ce barman.

Je tiens à souligner cette expérience décevante en la partageant sur Google Maps et d'autres sites, afin d'informer les autres clients potentiels de tels comportements irrespectueux envers une clientèle qui dépense son argent dans ce bar. J'espère sincèrement que cette situation sera prise en compte par la direction et que des mesures seront prises pour éviter qu'elle ne se reproduise à l'avenir.

Je reste cependant ouvert à donner une autre chance au Rockette Bar, espérant que des changements positifs seront apportés pour garantir une expérience agréable et respectueuse à tous les...
