I went to the restaurant with my sons to warm up and eat comfort food after a tough soccer match. My sons decided to order the soup of the day, as did I, and they ordered drinks too (ice cream float and hot chocolate). The hot chocolate came with the whipped cream option, which we did not ask for, and it cost $4.50 for a small cup! The ice cream float cost $5.95, which I find expensive, but I can imagine that it costs the same elsewhere. However, the three soups of the day, which were small, merely sprinkled with dry parsley, and did not come with crackers or buns or anything special, cost $17.85 in total, before tax and tip!!! Ridiculous!!! If they'd given crackers or buns, I might not have been bothered to remark, but seriously, $32.54 for three small bowls of soup, and two drinks, plus 15% tip, is mighty expensive!!! Maybe I'd have felt different if we'd actually ordered a meal, so I didn't give 1 or 2 stars, to not affect the star rating too much. The service was OK but not extra friendly. I was a waitress for many years, so I understand the highs and lows of the job, and I can't say that I can complain about the service that we received, but I didn't feel special. I felt like just another customer. The ambiance and cleanliness were good too. I know that restaurants are expensive to run, and I understand that their costs must be covered, but I think that in our case, we paid much too much. The cost of our snack would have provided us with 3-4 days of food if it had been spent at the grocery store. It encourages me to avoid...
Read moreI came here after a night playing pool with friends and was immediately greeted by an unfriendly and rude woman who was to seat us. She told us to sit anywhere, did not offer water, menus and proceeded to ignore us for 10 minutes. We then just grabbed menus at another table that was empty and decided on what to order. After the individual came to our table to take our order, we asked her about the souvlaki items on the menu. We were unsure if it was because we were asking a question or perhaps there was a language barrier but she was clearly not having any of it and began to yell and tell us that we needed to listen to what she was saying. Instantly, we knew that this was not going to be the place to have our dinner, got up and headed for the door. Which at that point the guy at the bar told us to sit down because she was just having a bad day. We told the man thank you but we cannot be served in a place where customers are treated in that way and then left. Whether or not you are having a good or bad day, you do not take it out on your customers. This woman should be ashamed of her behaviour and take some time to think about whether she is fit for the hospitality industry with such an unprofessional and disgusting attitude. All the best to rest...
Read moreFood is pretty subpar. I don't come here for the food. I come here because it's the only place that's open so late and when I'm in the area with friends and we want to grab food and it's 10:30pm and we're a medium sized group, we end up here. The lady who works there is also great, she holds the fort down and works hard and is always pleasant.
I've ordered a few things from here and I'm always a little disappointed. The fries are good though, it tasted like McDonald's! The hot dog, even though it comes with a Lester paper. I don't think it is. The weiner itself tasted like nothing. I've never had a steamy that was just.. bad and tasteless but here we are. I've ordered a few other things and it's just meh. The poutine was also pretty abysmal. And when I think QC diner, I think good basic standard poutine. Not here. I haven't had their breakfast but that's probably fine and a safe bet because, their potatoes are probably good, eggs is hard to mess up and you have salt and pepper.
I've been to many diners and this is not a place you come for for...
