Tapeo — Restaurant in Montreal

This was our first time ordering Tapeo for home delivery, via Uber Eats. Tapeo is a lovely restaurant that has been special to us, with fantastic service, a warm ambiance, and delicious tapas. But when you remove the service and atmosphere, can the food hold up alone? And survive delivery? We wondered, but we took a chance. And our meal was delicious! For about $100 we had 7 dishes including dessert, which was more than enough.

The fideos coca is a large, oblong flatbread like a fluffy artisanal pizza. It was generous (we have leftovers!) and yummy. The garlic shrimp is a small dish (like in the restaurant) but each shrimp was gigantic. The patatas bravas, Brussels sprouts, and grilled lemon chicken were amazing! As expected, the fried calamari were no longer crunchy, but they were tender and delicious. The churros with chocolate was a decadent treat! Aiolis for the dishes came packed separately and were well labelled. All the dishes were perfectly cooked and seasoned.

My first visit, almost 10 years ago, was memorable, the food was excellent, every plate had its own identity with different and unique flavors. Service was impeccable as well.

Because of COVID, no traveling, no real holidays. So I decided to bring my whole family to travel around the world through fabulous restaurants. Tapeo was for Spain! My children are 3 severe culinary critics from 14 to 10. They are curious, ask a lot of questions to the waiters, tastes everything and they have comments for every bite they take. This visit was another memorable one, it was literally the apotheosis of our culinary journey. It's a very nice looking restaurants with nice modern and elegant decor. The meal started with a swordfish ceviche with olive chutney that was to die for. I had to take the very fresh and crunchy bread to swoop every last drop of the dish as it was way too tasty. I took the lamb Bavette for the main dish. Beside being very hard to cut (no steak knives) I devoured the whole thing like my life depended on it. It may not have been a very traditionnal dish but who cares, it tasted a lot and it tasted great. My friend took the seafood paella. It was packed with so many things. more seafood than paella. There was even some Chorizo up in there. The rice was a little too moist but beautifully aromatized. It smelled amazing and the smell would fill the whole room up.

As if it wasn't nice enough, just when we were saying how full and satisfied we were, they put a big plate of decadent Churros with chocolate sauce. Last time I was In spain, I couldn't stop eating churros....
