I have been a Villa fan for years, having lived only two blocks from them for many years I can say that they are still my favorite souvlaki restaurant in Montreal, mind you back in the day a sandwich was less than $2. Their tzatziki is fantastic, as are their sandwiches. Not a big fan of their dollar-cut fries, remember I said I used to live close Chalet BBQ close, so they really wouldn't be able to compete there unless they were making their own fries instead of using frozen fries. I would also like to see the option of the type of pitas they offer as the puffier Greek style have become my favorite style, brushed with a little butter and those kind of souvlaki are really good, if they coupled that with their brochettes and tzatziki the could have solid gold. Then again why mess with success. I don't know if it is still the case, but for many years it has been cash only. They don't offer delivery themselves (I don't know if there is someone doing it for them like Uber Eats). You can order in advance by phone to pickup. Go, you won't be...
Read moreFood was amazing! But the older man who was cooking made us feel so bad, we couldn’t finish our meal. My kids (who were NOT loud) were playing on the table next to us with the ketchup packets quietly. There were 2 other tables with nice people eating and smiling at our kids. The cook came very angry and said : what is this ? they are acting like this in a restaurant, they are bothering the other customers. He said it so rudely made us feel like our kids were acting like animals. We said we will put back the ketchup back as we always do… he said this is not right don’t act like this in a restaurant.
The other customers looked at us confused as my kids were not making noise if anything they we’re making others smile ! They were far away from everyone. Very very rude older cook. We left confused why we were treated this way, and it looked like a family restaurant! Too bad the food was so good. But that angry older cook was not in a good mood that’s for sure and gave us a very...
Read moreI love this place, have been a customer since 1989. I have seen it grow, and change over many years. But the great food is the one thing that has remained consistent. They survived the pandemic and that is saying something. Their formula is simple and the food can be enjoyed either in the restaurant or take out.
Please Villa, consider opening at noon on weekends! I stopped by yesterday, around noon, it was closed and in the few minutes I parked there, 2-3 people came to the door and turned around.
I wish Villa many more decades of success. It is a place with a tradition that should be upheld. I am not sure many places on the 2-3 blocks surrounding even hold a candle to Villa, maybe Chalet BBQ if rotisserie chicken is your thing.
But these wonderfully marinated souvlaki are just wonderful and the tzatziki is to die for. Tomatoes are always plump and tasty even in the middle of winter!!
