Literally just left the place. It is very close to my home, and my wife and I use the store reasonably often. I went tonight to get hot dog buns, and picked up a few other items while there. They had cherries on special for $3.99 per pound, and I picked up a bag of them. At the cash I was charged $11.66. I knew that couldn't be right, so I looked at the per kilo price on the screen which said $11.00. It should have been $8.79 per kilo. I pointed it out to the clerk, and she became very defensive immediately. She told me that she could not fix the price and that no one was there that could fix it for me, and took the cherries away... She said better to leave them here. I asked her if she understood the retail laws in Qc (she has been there a long time!) and she became abrasive. Actually told me if I am not happy, I should go somewhere else. I made her repeat it, and she did. There were many scenarios that could have played out that would have left me feeling less "irrelevant", but the clerk neither possessed the skills to go there, or was completely unwilling. Either way, that was a truly...
Read moreThis is a very nice local market that has been around for many, many years. The management changed a few years ago and the new owner/operator has mixed up the offerings to include pre-prepared food. This was especially useful to my family during recent kitchen renovations. The prepared foods include homemade soups that are made fresh weekly. Do check production dates with the counter person. The selection of groceries is quite complete for a small grocer but some prices are too high to get my dollar while some items are priced about average. There is a nice beer and wine selection, household and pet foods and a reasonable fresh fruit and vegetable section. I recommend this market and others like it as these family run businesses are fewer and far between these days. We must support our small businesses as they render better service than the big chains, certainly more...
Read moreTerrible cashier! The place actually looks lovely, has a good stock, and there was a nice lady in the back who sold me delicious perogies. If it wasn't for the cashier I'd be giving this place 4 or 5 stars!
A craft beer I like was supposed to be on sale for 2 for $8.99. The cashier rang me up and I could tell that the total (even with tax) was too high. I informed the cashier who told me that the beers rang up as $4.50 each. A long line formed so I didn't do the math right away (with my other items plus tax) to get the actual total that it should have been. When the receipt printed I found out that the cashier COMPLETELY LIED. Each beer was a totally different price ranging from $5.49 to $6.49. Basically, she swindled me out of money because she didn't want to do her...
