A&W Canada — Restaurant in Nanaimo

I don't usually leave reviews. I am definitely not a Karen and because I also work in the service industry, I am the most understanding chick ever... BUT this place is a total mess. They used to be great! But the last 5 times I went there was absolutely awful. They have new employees and probably new management and it shows!!! They don't speak english well, so they mess up my order EVERYTIME, the wait is totally unbelievable and they are rude! Last time I went there I waited 20 minutes in the drive thru, I paid, then was told that the item I had ordered was not available. So I asked for my money back and they only gave me like half of my money. When I told them it wasn't right, they didn't even apologize, they were rude and gave me attitude lol. Like I get it, you're busy it's stressful, been there ok? But you can't treat your customers like that. I usually go there after work cuz it's the only place open and it's convenient because it's close, but tonight I went and tried to order, the girl mumbled something on the mic and then it was just silence for a full minute... This location had gone downhill of late with a rapidity akin to that of a bowling ball thrown down a mineshaft. A pity because I used to stop here at least twice a week for breakfast on the go.

Service has become grudging, they don't change their fryer oil frequently enough so that everything tastes bitter, they throw together whatever you've ordered in a haphazard manner and the street junky problem is now more desperate than ever. They are a danger to themselves and others, in that they todder into traffic around the building. You have to constantly be on guard or you'll run one over.

Also, they have items from the "value menu" priced identical to everything else now. So if you order a breakfast sandwich consisting of muffin, cheese and sausage patty, it costs the same as a sandwich that includes muffin, cheese egg and sausage patty. Prices are at the moment, 5.50 across the board.

They do this because the street junkies were coming in to buy a single 2.50 breakfast sandwich, and sitting down an hour to warm up in...

This is the worst A & W experience of my life. The amount of cracked out heroin junkies in their restaurant was disgusting. The smell was unbearable. People literally nodding off sleeping at the table and all the junkies with their disgusting hands and filth all over the tables with them not being cleaned afterwards. A&W get your act together. Your restaurant is not a shelter. These people have resources for that. One man was asleep with a sleeping bag in the corner on the floor. The employees were obviously overwhelmed and didn't have the support from you to deal with it. You need a fulltime member of security on staff to deal with this location.
