We have has nothing but amazing experiences at Firehouse Subs here in Niagara Falls. For months, friends had been recommending we give it a shot, and from our first visit we have understood why.
Every sub we've had has been delicious: the Italian, the Meatball, Steak and Cheese, Smokehouse Brisket and Cheddar, and the Engineer. Our favourite hot sub was the Steak and Cheese, super juicy and flavorful, and absolutely worth it to add the sauteed mushrooms for the upcharge. The Italian was another favourite, and none of the subs are skimping on meat. The bread is soft, chewy and always fresh.
We have also tried the broccoli and cheddar soup, which was smoothy, extra creamy and tasty. The food is quality and tastes good, leaving you full but not stuffed and not feeling heavy or yucky when you're done.
But even above their awesome food, their service is top notch. On our latest visit, we met the owner or manager (we didn't catch what his position was) Purvang. He was friendly, knowledgeable, polite and kind. He talked to pretty much every single customer while we were there!
Every one of the staff who have served us have been just like Purvang too. They're all friendly, quick and helpful. I have not seen service like this at a quick service restaurant, ever! They checked up on all the customers, and always ensured everyone had what they needed.
I will return to this location again and again. We were very impressed and think others should know how...
Read moreWANNABE HEALTHY SIDE DISH CONNOISSEUR Currently, my main focus when deciding where and what to eat while eating or ordering out is whether the food item(s) are of a healthier nature and what the price is.
Usually, the items I choose are found on the Side Dish portion of the menu. (Not always, but often).
This is the case at Firehouse Subs, where I order their Chilli from their Sides menu.
Their chilli is meaty with kidney beans, diced tomatoes and onions, and a sauce that is not spicy. I personally like to taste my chilli, not feel it burn. You can always add a little heat yourself, but you can't take it out once it's in.
The price for the bowl of chilli is $5.94, which is quite reasonable, considering the high protein and fiber content.
The sodium content is a little high - 850mg - but I often don't eat the whole portion at once, usually pouring half the chilli over a baked potato (which I get from a Sides menu at another nearby restaurant, for 3.49!).
Usually, I order pick up or just walk in and place my order. The staff have always been polite and friendly. But due to my not eating in, I am not able to accurately review the restaurant's atmosphere.
PS - On my next visit, I plan to try their side salad - yes, it's from their Sides portion of their menu. It is $4.95 and includes romaine lettuce, tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, provolone cheese, and your choice of dressing. Sounds tasty and healthy - just what I'm...
Read moreWell, the subs were good. And they have very tempting options, was difficult to choose one to try! The prices are high in my opinion, BUT like I said the food is good and getting the large was worth it to save half for later. I got the firehouse hero because I was looking forward to a cold sub with crunchy lettuce and was disappointed it was heated and ruined the lettuce. I didn't know you needed to request it cold and feel the cashier should have something because I was discussing with my brother - while standing at the counter before ordering how I would try the new york steamer next time because I wanted a cold sub. I purchased a drink with the second sub and was upset later when I was charged $3 for a tiny bottle of pop. My brother ordered a sub too and was offered a fountain drink, I don't know why I wasn't offered that? Only after I paid she handed me a bottle. Seems like a petty thing to be upset about but I am still feeling a little salty over it. Two subs and a small pop cost $40. The lady making the subs and packing the take out orders was...
