Well the short lived Mark's subs has officially been replaced with La Italiano. I felt like having a sub so I thought I'd try it out.
I just got a 12" assorted sorted ($6.99) on white with tomatoes, onions, sub sauce, lettuce, and extra meat ($1.99).
It was a decent sub at a decent price. It didn't blow my mind but I wasn't disappointed. I don't think the bun was fresh today which hurt the score a little bit.it was still soft just not as springy/spongy as I had hoped
The sub is actually quite large. Any other place I can eat the whole thing but this place I only ate half and saved the rest for later. So the portion size bumps the score up a little bit.
So all-in-all this was an average classic Canadian assorted sub. It's better than the big franchises but I think there's some room for improvement.
To the owner, please don't lose sight of the fact that the buns have to be very fresh to make a great sub. I know it's an expense but if you lose sight of the importance of the bun to try and save money you'll end up losing in the end.
Admittedly I would have paid $11 bucks for that sub. Maybe even $12. It would be better to raise the price to keep the buns fresh than to lower the price and serve day-old refrigerated buns.
As for the restaurant itself it's a standard little Sub shop but I'm a little bit confused as to what's going on here because it's branded as an Italian restaurant run by Indians that serves pizza, paneer, pasta, subs, and fries and poutine, "and more." That's a strange mix and a big menu of some wildly different things. So the menu might be hard to manage and making difficult to focus on what you do best in develop an identity based on that. Best of luck.
I am looking forward to...
Read moreI ordered 3 six inch subs(9.99 ea) from there last night. 2 Italian assorted and 1 Philly steak sub. The meat and cheese on the steak sub was almost non existent and what was there for meat was so unbelievable salty it was inedible. The assorted subs barely had any meat and what was on there was so thinly sliced you could barely tell what meat it was. The one assorted had or was supposed to have extra veg added (pickles, lettuce, tomato and spinach) I could count the pieces of spinach in there on one hand. They were mostly bun. It took over an hour for them to prepare the delivery and it showed. Thrown together and it showed. When you order for delivery they get paid regardless so there’s no concern for the customer if the food is...
Read moreSpend almost $100 on dinner. 1 sub, 2 pastas, a soup and 2 "fruit salads" took around hour and half to be delivered.
1 pasta actually tasted and looked decent 7/10 for that. The rest of our order was terrible. Wrong soup was given & portion size was terrible for the money. Mac and cheese tasted like cream with cheddar cheese not melted into it, the noodles looked like they were cut with scissors to be smaller. $5 fruit salad is really fruit cups that they likely bought at the dollar store. Sub was Medicore. 2 pieces of "cheesy garlic bread" is really just a 3 ince peice of stale bread with butter and sprinkle of cheese that's not melted. Unfortunately was a waste of money, we...
