Discriminatory Treatment at Fresh Slice, Location 1449 Lonsdale Ave. North Vancouver Date: July 1, 2024 Time: 10:15 PM
My recent experience at this Fresh Slice location in North Vancouver left a lot to be desired regarding customer service and fairness. My family and I were passing by the store around 10:15 PM. We decided to have some pizza, as we noticed a special offer: pizza slices for 99 cents each in celebration of Canada Day and Fresh Slice's 25th anniversary.
Upon arriving, we noticed a family of five, who appeared to be of the same descent as the staff, being served ahead of us. Each member of this family received three slices of pizza without any issues. When it was our turn, the service we received was markedly different.
A female staff member named Aman informed us that we had to pay separately for each member of our family. I complied, paying separately for my 12-year-old son and my wife. However, when I attempted to order my pizza, Aman stated that we could not purchase more than six slices in total for our family because we were considered a single group.
I pointed out that the family of five ahead of us had received multiple slices each, despite also being together and sitting at the same table. Aman responded that they had paid separately. I explained that I was doing the same, but she insisted on the six-slice limit for our family.
I then spoke to another male staff member and asked if he was the manager. The gentleman offered to give me the slices, but I refused because it’s not about the pizza; it’s about how you need to respect and treat your customers equally. I then expressed my concerns to Aman, explaining that it was unfair to treat that family differently than us, and requested to speak with the manager. Aman, identifying herself as the supervisor, reiterated that it was her manager's directive.
As a resident of North Vancouver for more than 20 years, I have never experienced such an awful discriminatory act in our community. Certain nationalities should not be favored over others, regardless of the store owner or employees' ethnicity. I expressed my concerns about this discriminatory practice, highlighting the unfair treatment compared to the previous family. Unfortunately, my complaint was dismissed, and we left the store feeling unfairly treated.
This experience was not only disappointing but also felt discriminatory. Customers should be treated equally, regardless of their ethnicity or nationality. I will be reporting this incident to the corporate office and strongly advise others to avoid this location. There are many other pizza shops in North Vancouver that treat their customers with fairness and respect. I wish I could give them zero stars, but unfortunately, Google reviews don't have...
Read moreWorst customer service ever I order from this location a lot and usually the staff are good and they also know me and I talk to them as well Except this person, she’s always rude to the customers and she looks at them like we said something bad or I owe her something She is short and I think her name is Aman or something like this But today when I went there and when she started making my order I realized she didn’t see the note or something and she was making my order wrong and I politely told her and then she looked at me like I said something bad to her and then she started shouting and saying don’t tell me what to do and don’t teach me my job then her friend jumped in and calmed her down and apologized to me Anyways at the end the pizza I got was hard as a rock and it barely had any protein or cheese on it it was like I was eating a hard bread with some sauce on it And then at the end when she was about to give me the order she raised her voice again and said you are not allowed to talk to the employees and you should leave the store and come back to pick your order up if it’s to go it’s a rule for all of Fresh Slices in Canada I don’t know what to say but this is very unacceptable, shouting at the customers and...
Read moreI had the worst experience ever from this specific North Vancouver Freshlice Pizza located on 132 Esplanade W, North Vancouver, BC V7M 1A2. I went to use their washroom and I discovered black mold growing inside of the toilet paper scroll and this was the large scroll. I saw the black mold spots all along the side of the toilet paper plus a yellow growth on the border of the toilet paper. I immediately addressed it to the staff whom said he was the manager. The worst part was he said he knows the mold is there and there's not much he can do. It got to a point that he said it's not a health concern because it's from a person's behind and not from eating his pizza. He also said the owner knows about this and apparently all their toilet papers have mold and it is what it is and nothing THEY can do. I am very concerned from this staff member extreme lack of concern and I immediately stopped eating their pizza. Mistakes happen but when it comes to serving food with a major health hazard and responding irresponsibility, it is absurd. Please research the health risks of black mold. This place is disgusting and do NOT care about the food they serve to their customers. You will be reported. You should be ASHAMED of...
