Visited this place for the first time since I was in the area for a bit but the service was a bit disappointing for a lunch on Monday. However, the pho bo was fatty and delicious

The young male server with glasses served every table but there was a middle-aged woman who would stand nearby the front counter. Perhaps there is a language barrier for her to serve customers but I felt bad for the male server doing everything she told him to do

I received my pho bo order first without the small dish of complementary bean sprout & basil. I tried to get the lady’s attention 2 times since she was the only person available. When she looked in my direction, I waved my arms for her to see me but I was completely ignored. When I had her attention, she called the male server to help instead

This is the only Vietnamese restaurant that I’ve been to that didn’t provide complementary bean sprouts after you order. I saw another table request for the bean sprouts too after they got their food. Also, there was no hoisin sauce on the table which you typically see in other Vietnamese restaurants

Overall a good spot for Vietnamese food especially in North Vancouver but I hope they can improve on their...

I recently tried a Vietnamese restaurant in North Vancouver and ordered a few classics: Bò Kho with Bánh Mì, Bánh Xèo, and Bún Chả Hà Nội, along with a Vietnamese salted coffee.

The Bò Kho (beef stew) was outstanding: rich, hearty, and full of flavor, with tender beef and carrots. it was definitely a highlight of the meal.

The Bún Chả Hà Nội was flavorful with smoky grilled pork, fresh herbs, and noodles. However, it came with spring rolls instead of the traditional pork meatballs, which made the dish feel a little unusual.

The Bánh Xèo (Vietnamese crepe) was tasty with its turmeric flavor and fresh veggies, but the batter was a bit too thick, making the crepe harder than expected instead of light and crispy.

For drinks, I tried the Vietnamese salted coffee. It was smooth and not overly strong, though the milk gave it a slightly unusual taste compared to what I expected.

Overall, the restaurant offers authentic Vietnamese flavors and fresh ingredients. I’d recommend it to anyone in North Vancouver looking for comforting and flavorful...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 — Outstanding Vietnamese Cuisine & Amazing Service

Phonatic Social has become one of my favorite go-to spots. Almost 2-3 times a week. The atmosphere is warm, modern, and inviting — perfect for a casual meal or a relaxed night out with friends and family.

The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Their pho broth is incredibly rich and comforting, with that perfect balance of herbs and spices. The spring rolls are crisp and packed with flavor, and the banh mi sandwiches are spot-on with deliciously seasoned meats and fresh veggies. You can really taste the care and authenticity in every dish.

What truly makes the experience great is the hospitality. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always happy to offer recommendations if you’re trying something new. You feel genuinely welcomed here.

Whether you’re craving a hot bowl of pho on a cool day or just looking for consistently delicious Vietnamese cuisine, Phonatic Social is the place to go. Highly recommend — you’ll definitely want...

A fresh take on Vietnamese, served with Western hospitality and a North Shore spin. The food is delicious and plated very well, and the service is attentive, helpful and overall quite excellent. It embraces the usage of their patio and leans into an extensive cocktail menu with some very interesting and unique selections! The indoor seating is quite cozy and it's obvious the new owners have made a big effort into coming out swinging with a great entry into the North Shore restaurant scene. I'm excited to return and try more of the menu! As a bonus - Happy Hours from 2-5pm daily and 8pm to close, with all drinks 15% off and the entire food menu 10% off. Hopefully they extend the Friday and Saturday hours, I could see Phonatic as a great place to stop in for some late night eats!

Best Vietnamese on the North shore!! Great new place! Had the tasty and complementary pandan tea to start. Ordered the Goi Xoai (Mango Salad) Perfect!! Highly recommend! Then came the Bun Cha Hà Nội…the flavours were amazing and everything was so fresh and flavorful! It’s been a very busy place right from the time they opened their doors only recently. We were very lucky to get a table for two in short order when we arrived. The owners and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming and quick to take care of all our needs. The atmosphere was wonderfully decorated and bright. We cannot wait to go back to try more of their tasty dishes! If you’re considering going here, don’t even hesitate. Just do it! You might need to make a reservation!
