Fantastic and friendly customer service. They make THE BEST EVER gluten, dairy, egg and yeast free bread around. Like most breads of this fashion, it's best toasted, but from toasted it tastes and feels like "regular bread", which is often difficult to find in these types of breads. And it makes great sandwiches my 7yr old loves in her school lunches. I buy these loaves in bulk and keep in my freezer, the slices NEVER stick together, this is a huge benefit over other breads that once frozen, you try to get a slice and the bread has molded into one big slice that breaks off in pieces (so frustrating). The bread is on the $$ side, but most of these kinds of breads are and there is, not to my knowledge, other breads out there without yeast, egg, gluten and dairy and with low sugar and pretty decent ingredients. I happily pay the $$. This bread is unique, especially for those needing this type of bread and I couldn't be more grateful to Mountain Top Cafe and Bakery for inventing this perfect bread! Thank you Grace and Bruce!!!! One day I hope to visit...
Read moreI don't like leaving negative reviews, but I wanted to share my experience so that hopefully others avoid my frustration. I went to the bakery today and purchased 2 loaves of "sourdough" bread, a pack of butter tarts and a few other items. I noticed that the bread didn't smell quite right, but I was in a rush and needed to get home. When I arrived home and sliced it, I discovered that it wasn't sourdough it was plain white bread. It does not have the sour fermented flavour or smell that proper sourdough has. I was also disappointed to find that the butter tarts were dry and stale - the sugar filling inside having hardened and crystallized.
I called about the issue with the bread mix up and was told that sourdough and white bread are the same, which they are not. I definitely wouldn't go back and would urge you to spend your money elsewhere. Gluten free products are expensive enough as it is, at least you should get what you...
Read moreOrdered a gluten free cake and blueberry pie for company that are celiac. When I went to pay for the cake I couldn’t believe what they were telling me, it was….$81. It was a single layer about 12 x 8 inches. I was so shocked at the price and they said it was an order so I had to pay for it.The cake was almost inedible. It tasted like cardboard. It was so dry. And the icing was like eating pure icing sugar. Not one person that tried it liked it. I still can’t believe how horrible it was and I paid a fortune for it. The blueberry pie was $29 … it was okay but very very sweet and the crust was not good. I can’t believe they can stay in business with prices like that. I happened to see a gluten free cake at Whole Foods, it looked lovely and was only $22. I won’t be going back to this...
