Being a fan of Baton Rouge, my wife chose to celebrate her 40th birthday dinner at this location with a small group of friends. The most disturbing part of our experience were the house flies and numerous fruit flies. The fear was that they are proliferating in food that is rotting or not well kept. The staff could have been leaving a back door open in the kitchen as it felt that the air conditioner was not operating to full capacity and I can only imagine how hot it must have been in the kitchen. My children were getting bored so I took them outside for a walk around the restaurant. I did notice that the garbage enclosure is adjacent to the rear exit of the restaurant. The fruit flies or house flies could easily be coming from there. My wife asked for a variety of different white wines, they were out of all her requests, 3 in total. It got to the point that the server had to go see what they did have in stock and give my wife her options. A little frustrated, my wife just chose the first wine the server mentioned. When we were ordering our mains, they were also out of the Prime Rib, an item which I was looking forward to. Being known for their ribs and steak I found this especially surprising. When our food did come, we found the following: -my daughters kids size pasta had zero salt in it, given it was a white sauce pasta, it was extremely unappetizing. If pasta could ever taste like water, this was it. -the calimari had a slight slimy texture and the breaded portion was soft and soggy, this item could also have used more salt. Again, unappetizing. -we asked the server to remove the cherry tomatoes from one of the dishes but she forgot and admitted as much. But the sense was that she was reluctant to take it back and have it redone and mentioned a few times if we would rather just make do. In my experiences at other restaurants they would immediately take it back. She was probably afraid of getting in trouble for the mistake. -The spinach dip had a quarter inch of oil sitting on top. It was so greasy that I immediately lost my appetite. It also did not taste fresh. The tortilla chips served with it were also very bland. All of this led me to be unable to take a single bite of my main dish. To be fair, the fries were great and so was the Santa Fe Chicken dinner. We kept the booze flowing and that also helped. All in all, the overall experience reminded me of how businesses tend to operate on the tail end of their life span. This location could be going out of business. It was also very unfortunate as it was my wife's 40th birthday dinner. This did not turn out to be the higher end dining experience that we were hoping for. We will almost certainly go to the Keg for our next celebratory dinner. Please see the attached picture of one of the many fruit flies crawling around the lip of my beer.

I treated my family at this Baton Rouge location recently and while I envisioned it to be similar to the Keg or Chops Steakhouse, I was sorely mistaken. We went with a group of 4 adults and 2 young children (3 generations of family members) and we ordered a variety of apps and entrees and the consensus was that we would never return. At those price points, I expected better food quality. Don’t get me wrong, the ambience was perfect, ideal for datenight, but if you’re like me and prefer good food over mood lighting, I would go somewhere else. Here are the items we ordered: - Mac and cheese: nothing special here, similar to someone you would get from a cardboard box - ‘Signature’ spinach dip: this was fine, no complaints, but you can’t really mess up a spinach dip - Calamari: the crunchiest was there, just wish there were more pieces at the $20 price point - kids ordered from the kids menu, prices ranged from $10-$13, entree included side, drink and ice cream - Sunday special top sirloin with soup and cake: Two people ordered this and one piece of steak was over and the other was under. My husband can remake better steak than that!the chocolate cake was way too sweet and we both left it on the table after taking one bite - Signature Baton Rouge burger with an order of poutine on the side.m: The gravy on the poutine wasn’t even hot so the cheese didn’t melt. The manager overheard us talking about it and offered to remove the surcharge from our bill - Grilled Mediterranean branzino: my dad ordered this and I didn’t taste it myself, presentation looked ok, the risotto looked wet The bill came to about $250 (we didn’t order any alcoholic drinks). Ambience 10/10, staff attentiveness 8/10, food 2/10. We eat out a lot and for $250, I can eat better at a lot of other restaurants.

All around this was very disappointing visit. Started out fine but went downhill fast. We arrived at 5pm before the normal supper hour. Ordered medium rare filet mignon. Normally a good cut melts in your mouth but this was chewy. I don't know it is the grade of beef or if it was cooked from frozen and thawed cycle. I'm sure we will never know the truth. Fries were a little too salty for my taste but were good. (Spouse was the same meal except sweet potato fries). As for the flies and fruit flies which hovered around and had to be continuously swatted away was ridiculous. One has to wonder how many more were in the kitchen. Besides the server bringing a side of mushrooms that looked like they were from a can. We asked for glasses of water as a waiter walked by or we would not have had. After finishing the plates were removed. We were asked if there was anything else we wanted to which we replied no. Over 30 minutes had pasted and no waitress. She passed by to serve a table 3 seats behind and didn't look in our direction. We eventually flagged down another waiter and asked for the bill. He said he would get our waitress but for some reason she didn't return. That other waiter returned with our bill. I know we weren't rude or over demanding customers so I don't know what her problem was with us but we will never return there again. We should have gone to The Keg if we wanted to spent $200 for 3 people.

This was my own personal first experience at Baton Rouge. I went on Sunday with a reservation for a group of 10 with my mother-in-law and my partner's family. This restaurant holds a lot of sentimental value to my mother-in-law as her and her deceased husband used to frequent Baton Rouge and she hasn't been back since he passed away. When we arrived at the restaurant, the ambiance was great, the servers were initially very nice and all was relatively good, albeit a bit slow. We only had 1 server for a group of 10, but were fine with it. As the night went on, only bad things ensued. Two of our party got their food rather quickly and we were surprised at the speed, but 10 minutes later were approached saying the food was brought to the wrong table and they were preparing another dish for them. We waited for everyone's food and about 1.5 hours later, we finally had gotten everyone's food except they had missed the truffle fries I had ordered on the side. The timing of the food being served was strange as well. Kids received their food first, which was fine, but then 15 minutes later the "adult dinners" came out, but the initial 2 dishes that went to the wrong table, were served 15 minutes after everyone else's had arrived. While I was being served the food, I had my full glass of ice water spilled onto me by another server who apologized, which I commented was okay, since it was just water and no harm no foul. I informed our server about the truffle fries and she said to me "they'll be out in a minute!" 5 minutes passed, 10 minutes passed, 15 minutes passed and still no truffle fries. I had finished my food, which I'll comment on later. Finally, at the end of this long evening, we get our bill that had truffle fries and I questioned the purchase since we had never received them to which she commented it was an add-on for my partner's meal, but never once apologized about having forgotten the truffle fries I ordered on the side.

So, long story short, continuous error after error from Baton Rouge made the whole service experience absolutely horrible. I know it sounds petty, but I was looking forward to the fries, and from not even receiving a single apology for having forgotten them made me a little sour.

Food quality: I ordered the chicken tender salad and the overall salad was good, but the chicken tenders, which I had heard such great things about, were lukewarm at best. The breading was soggy (which I can understand from sitting on a bed of salad, but the WHOLE chicken tenders that were sitting on top were soggy overall and lukewarm) which makes me suspect they were just sitting there.

Overall, I don't know what needs to change, but it was such an awful experience overall and I don't recommend it to anyone trying Baton Rouge for the first time because it was truly disappointing. I spent $70 to have water spilled on me, truffle fries forgotten, and soggy chicken tenders on a nice bed of salad and never once an apology for all the poor things that had happened that evening. I was disappointed because the ratings looked phenomenal, but I was severely...

We tried Baton Rouge for first time last night. I will be strongly urging friends/family to avoid Baton Rouge at this location. The 1 star I feel comfortable giving is because the server was pleasant. I never take the time to leave reviews unless positive, but this time felt the need.

Our dinner total was just over $250 for two people. Apps - the Lobster Mushrooms were excellent and the high light of the night. The calamari was 4/10 it was undercooked but overall tasted pretty standard. What you would expect from a Kelsey’s or like restaurant. .

The dinners were highly disappointing. My steak (12oz strip loin) was to be medium rare came out rare on the blue side. And was not allowed to rest. So when cut open, bled all of the juices all over my plate. Flavour and quality of the meat was good but the way it was cooked ruined the beautiful cut of meat it was. You would expect a steak house to be able to cook a steak medium rare (the most common) and to know to allow a steak to rest (seems pretty standard)

My spouse had the Ribs and Shrimp. The shrimp was over cooked and slathered in BBQ sauce. But at least something has BBQ sauce. The full rack of ribs was small (think the buy at the grocery store cook at home Swiss chalet ribs) and seriously lacked BBQ Sauce.

The Mashed potatoes were not seasoned and were dry/crumbly as was the loaded baked potato. The vegetables were probably the best part of both dinners even though they were more on the raw side than the Al Dente Side.

To add: if getting the $15 holiday special for the salad, dessert and drink, we were charged for our pop, and even though it says choice of dessert it’s only chocolate cake. This is at the bottom of the list of problems we had. But felt it should be mentioned so no one is surprised. The chocolate cake was very good though.

We also felt rushed by the server to leave. Checking in every 5-10 minutes even though we had only been there for half an hour. I would understand if we had sat there for an hour without drinks, or apps, salads etc but we had apps alcoholic drinks salads etc.

Overall, we ended up going over to Dave and Busters after we ate to get food. Their food was better and half the price. For $250 a person, we expected at least a half decent dinner. But save your self the time and money. Go to Dave and Busters, Swiss Chalet or any of there $ dinner place that offers ribs/steak because honestly it would have...
