First ever Big Bone Visit and ordered the Carolina Chicken Poutine. I was impressed with the amount I got but with all good food comes a price and with taxes almost $15. Will it be worth it? Interesting combination of ingredients in this poutine and I did a double take when I opened the container to see raw onions. Guess I read wrong from the menu but Green onions would make more sense to me. Gravy is tasty plenty of bacon chunks and the bbg chicken breast is hardy and plenty aside from the occasional piece that was partially charred and left a familiar burnt carbon taste to that mouthful. I found the thin fries to be particularly crunchy / well done or maybe even over done. When fries are over done it becomes a dry crisp stick with very little or no fleshy tender innards which becomes laden with grease if not left to drain. You may think that the gravy will soften up that crispy fry but I found to many of which was still very hard and did not sop up the gravy. I am even having trouble getting on my fork due to the hard outer crisp. The flavour and fork frustrations turned me off to the poutine at the halfway mark. The service was good and the staff very helpful and attentive, but I will not be ordering a poutine from hear again. Next time it will be a sandwich and...
Read moreWe ordered Party Pack #4. (Ribs, wings, pulled pork, beans, slaw, fries, BBQ sauce and cornbread). We also ordered some of the sandwhiches but this review is for their BBQ items and service. The ribs and pulled pork had a good amount of smoke flavouring. Ideal amount of sauce. Neither were oversauced which happens in many restaurants and can overpower the smoke taste. They do provide extra bbq sauce on the side if you like them extra saucy. Rib meat was not "fall off the bone"...which is a big score. These are "competition style" BBQ ribs where the meat is slightly attached then release from the bone when pulled while maintaining tenderness. Mission accomished. One of the best ribs I've ever had. Pulled pork equally one of the best ever. Great texture... all meat and no fat. Wings had a great flavour, were properly cooked and not greasy. The texture made me believe they weren't from frozen but I can't confirm that. Beans were that classic dark molasses style. Coleslaw had a great taste. It's the creamy style which I traditionally am not a fan of but I would happily order it again. Service was friendly and helpful. There were three parcels for my take out and the employee serving me asked if I needed a hand bringing it to my car. It wasn't necessary but was a...
Read moreWe are a young family who all enjoy BBQ. Big Bone BBQ is really close to us, and we've had once before, but this was the first time ordering a party pack. We got Party Pack #4. A full rack, 1 lb pulled pork, baked beans, slaw, corn bread, 1lb wings, fries and a tub of sauce. Gotta say - food was really good. All had great smoke to it, and the 'tub of sauce' was a nice addition. We had the Kansas style wings awesome. Pulled pork was good, and ribs were awesome. About the Ribs - they aren't skimpy with the meat - a lot of take out ribs, there are more ribs then meat - not here! Only thing I didn't love was the corn bread - but I'm not a big fan of corn bread, and have only ever liked it once (somewhere in the states). One of the best parts? VALUE - for $60, that was a lot of food. Feeding a family of 5, that quality of food is hard to find - even cooking it yourself! I would recommend Big Bone BBQ to my friends - especially those who like their BBQ saucy. ...
