My wife and I used to enjoy this place, but after a few years away from Oakville, on our return, the experience just isn't what it used to be.
It used to be a friendly place, and we had always enjoyed the experience.
But something has happened. The food has changed from once being excellent, now to so-so. For example, the Milano de Pollo used to be a nice butterflied seared chicken breast with some great dipping sauces, etc. Now it is a schnitzel, and we had to literally argue with the waitress to bring out some sauces, and she refused to acknowledge they ever had them. Finally she relented, and brought them out, but not after a lot of back and forth. She also forgot to bring out the salad.
My wife had some sort of rice pilaf, that was supposed to have chicken, shrimp and beef, but there was barely any meat, with only 1-2 pcs of each. I gave her some of my chicken.
One of our appetizers was still frozen on the inside.
Of the two waitresses that served our table, one was surly, and the other just plain rude.
They forgot to bring out the drinks on several occasions, and we also had to plead with them to bring us a refill of water to sooth our poor throats from having to yell over the DJ.
The "DJ" is some cast-off from a 1-star resort, deciding that two people on the dance floor was too many, and the best way to drive away the paying customers was to crank the volume up as loud as possible so that no one at our table (or any others) were able to talk.
Other tables thought the volume was excessive as well, as evidenced by them covering their ears with their hands. They decided to pack it in as well around the same time.
I used to like this place, and have been there at least 10 times in the past, and this is not the restaurant we knew. Perhaps the management has changed? Or maybe they no longer care.
Our friends who joined us are Spanish, and came away not being very impressed at all.
We've spent quite a fair amount at this restaurant over the years, but will never...

Read moreFirst time here and I enjoyed my visit. It was a Saturday night and although they were busy service was fast and great! Food portion is very good.
I'm a big fan of pisco sour and I have been to many Peruvian restaurants in Toronto and by far Machu Picchu Restaurant serves the best one thus far! Good size and amazing taste! 👏🏼
I read some reviews below and I tested some of the complaints like water and I got my water right away and no issues at all. Even asked for water with lime and it came fast.
I gave it a 4 star only because they include tips in the bill. To be honest I felt service and food was worth the trip to Oakville especially that I came from Scarbourgh just to dine here but I wanted to tip perhaps more than was included. It turned me off when I saw it included in the bill so perhaps next time if they remove it from the bill I will tip higher since I enjoyed everything about this place. Also tips shouldn't be mandatory but optional based on service. Just saying ....
Overall I would highly recommend this place. Come on Saturday nights as they have live music and dancing. You will have a blast!
Thank you Machu Picchu Restaurant!!! Keep up the good service...
