Update to respond to the lies by the store, I was dealing with the owners, I was not acting erratically, I recorded the conversation over the phone that I had with the manager prior to bringing back the order of fish and chips. I was not seeking free food, I was seeking them to replace only what I return 1 piece of fish and new chips since I could not eat my chips that came with my order because they said bring it back you will give you a new order. So by the time I went back returned the food, they refused and accused me of being too broke to afford to their food and I was just trying to get free food. Which is nonsense. The management of this restaurant are liars. Don't waste your time going. When they accused me of being too broke, and told me to get the hell out of their store, I left the remaining paid for food out of principal. Enjoy
Tonight I spent $64.90 on one 2pc Halibut & Chips with Gravy and on 1pc Halibut Chips & Gravy this is without tax as HST is not being charged. I only eat Halibut, tonight after arriving home, the 2nd piece of fish was dry hard and didn't taste fresh it didn't even taste like Halibut. I had just finished eating the 1st piece I had not even had any chips or gravy yet. But after my 2nd bite of the 2nd piece I was not happy at all with the quality. I called and spoke to the owner a female and explained my concerns and she said I could bring back the food and she would cook me another order. I drove back to the restaurant spoke to a short man who I also suspect is an owner probably a husband and wife business and he asked me where is the food, I said this is what you gave me I ate one of the Halibut pieces no complaints but the 2nd one was no good I had not even eaten any of the fries which where still under the wax paper. He said I would have to pay for a new order. I told him I am not asking for a new 2 pc just 1 pc with fries. He told me I look desperate to get an extra piece because I ate 2 bites of the one fish. I said do you think I would drive all the way from my house back to your restaurant to get a small extra few bites of fish. He said yes, and told me to get out. I tossed my paid for bag of Halibut and fish on his restaurant floor and left. I have spent over $600 over the last year in this business less than a month ago I spent $92 just for Fish n chips for 2 people. Do you self a favour he has many 1 stars do not waste your money eat somewhere were they actually appreciate...
Read moreAn Unforgettable Dining Experience Halibut House is a MUST!
Let me tell you something: Halibut House isn’t just a restaurant it’s a place that redefines how you think about fish and chips. The moment you step inside, the warm, inviting atmosphere sets the tone. The place is spotless, the decor is charming, and there’s this faint, tantalizing aroma of fresh seafood and golden batter that gets your taste buds excited before you’ve even sat down.
Now, let’s talk about the food. The halibut was next level. It’s like they’ve perfected the art of frying. The batter was so crispy and light, with just the right amount of crunch, encasing fish so fresh and tender it practically melted in my mouth. Every bite felt like pure bliss. The fries were equally amazing perfectly golden, crispy outside, fluffy inside, and seasoned to perfection. Oh, and the coleslaw? Creamy, tangy, and the ideal complement to the meal. Even the tartar sauce tasted homemade and elevated the experience.
But wait it gets better. The portions are absolutely massive. When the plate arrived, I couldn’t believe my eyes. For the price, the value is unbeatable. You’re not just getting a meal; you’re getting a feast.
And I can’t forget about the service. The staff at Halibut House genuinely go above and beyond. From the moment we walked in, they made us feel like VIPs. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made some great recommendations. Even though the restaurant was busy, the staff managed everything flawlessly, and our food came out hot and fresh in no time.
I’ve eaten at plenty of fish and chip places over the years, but Halibut House has completely ruined them all for me in the best way possible. Nothing else even comes close. Whether you’re a seafood lover or just someone who appreciates incredible food, this place is a must-visit.
Don’t walk RUN to Halibut House. You’ll leave stuffed, happy, and already planning your next visit. Trust me, this place deserves all the...
Read moreWent to try the place out for the second time because they have a buy 1 get 1 free to celebrate new management, it was very disappointing.
We got seated, no one brought us any water or anything else, we had to call server twice for someone to come take our order. The new manager does not seem familiar with the menu at all.
Food came out decently fast and the halibut meat was fresh, portion is bigger than before, they did change their caesar salad recipe though, it has a lot of anchovies fishy taste in it which I don't like, their old caesar recipe was better. Then, no one brought us any utensils, yes, no fork, no knife, we had to ask 2 different servers TWICE for them to bring utensils. Sat there for about 10 minutes waiting for utensils after the food arrived.
I ordered a fish chowder that I had to follow up with THREE different servers and waited around half an hour, after we were almost done with our main dish, for the chowder to come out. And again, no spoon, had to ask server twice again to get a spoon. Chowder was very dense, not the creamy type but tasted pretty good.
Finally bill time, again had to ask 2 different servers twice for the bill. We joked about how they probably won't even notice if we just walked out, waited 25 minutes to get the bill.
During the entire time, no one came around to ask how are we doing, no one checked on us once, not even the new manager.
They explained that everything are slow because the staff are new, BUT shouldn't you train your staff way before and let them get familiar first?? The restaurant was not big, there was 7-8 staffs I'm seeing, but some of them seem to have no idea what's going on sometimes.
It only took us about 20 minutes to eat and more than twice the time just spent waiting for them to bring...
