We were the first dinner reservation for opening day at 5pm. We were a group of 6 including a baby. Upon arrival we were greeted by 2 lovely hosts and seated at a large table. We all placed our orders for apps, mains and drinks. As apps: tuna tartare, 2x blk special rolls, truffle fries. Mains: ribeye, 2x wagyu truffle pasta, wagyu pizza and Nashville chicken sliders. Drinks: passion fruit mojito and mango passion fruit fizz. We got our drinks first which was delicious, on the sweeter side but good. Then they brought us complimentary bread for the table but only had 3 pieces of bread…for six people. When we asked for more bread because there wasn’t enough for the table they said they had to charge us $1 for it…If you’re going to provide complimentary bread, there should be enough for all guests at the table. The rolls were warm and the seasoned butter was good. Then they started to bring out the food and everything was out of order. First they brought out the pizza which was supposed to be a main. The chef torched the wagyu for us but the pizza wasn’t piping hot at all, as if it had been sitting out a while. The pizza also tasted like a frozen pizza from the grocery store…would not recommend. Then they brought out the Wagyu truffle pasta, again supposed to be mains. The Wagyu was thin carpaccio style slices which was a surprise, we were expecting slices of steak but if that is the case it should be noted on the menu. The pasta tasted like Alfredo pasta you make at home but even under seasoned and no truffle flavour at all. Wouldn’t recommend. Then they brought the blk special rolls which were okay, again tasted like something you can get from the grocery store. The servers did not bring us chop sticks and we had to request soy sauce. They brought the truffle fries which were subpar, a small drizzle of truffle flavoured olive oil, not enough cheese or salt. Then they brought out the chicken sliders which tasted better than it looked. Again it was okay. Finally the steak was brought out on a hot plate, I had asked for medium but by the time it was brought out it was medium well. Steak was under seasoned and they forgot my chimichurri sauce altogether. I had the same mediocre truffle fries and 4 very overcooked pieces of asparagus. I had to ask for salt on the side which was a marked improvement to the steak. If serving steak on a hot plate it should be a little undercooked from the requested temp or just serve it on a regular warmed plate. They also did not provide a steak knife so it was hard to cut it with a butter knife and it also overcooking on the hot plate. I asked for salt which made it taste a bit better. They completely forgot my tuna tartare. Finally the still or tap water tasted a bit weird, kinda chlorine-ish. Not sure about that at all.
Overall our server Ibrahim was very nice. We understood this was opening day but a lot of kinks need to be worked out in terms of service. I also recommend purse hooks or purse chairs. Our bill was well over $400 and not worth it. Even if all the service issues were fixed, the food did not taste good. Would not recommend, at least for now.
Update: followed up with management as requested almost 2 weeks...
Read moreI've been looking at this place on thier Instagram and it looked pretty good. Well just want to say...don't believe what they are putting on the Instagram. I went to dinner here on a Sunday night to check it out for myself. I give honest opinions and I do not try to put any business down but I have to speak up. I'll break it down Into manageable categories
Locaton: easy to get to in. North oakville. Set in a Plaza with lots of parking.
Restaurant and ambiance: They bill themselves as a "Fine dining " restaurant. It's actually more like a casual dining. They have nice steak house finishes but then they add weird video ceiling section and a dj booth. Also they have colored lights that clash with each other. Lots of tables and big space.
Food: No Alcohol . Yeah in a "Steak house" no wine no cocktails. It's Halal so I respect that but just a warning. On to the food:
We ordered the Sushi tacos. They were the tuna tartar that was on a crispy nori chip. Served in a nice stone globe . Presentation was great. Taste was kind of bland.
Then came the steaks. Ordered a 9 oz filet and a 10 oz strip. Rare..(this is important) The steaks come with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The steaks came out on sizzling plates. This was confusing as it produced a lot of smoke and burnt the vegetables aa well as burnt the steak knife hamdle .The filet was dry because I don't think it had a chance to rest and was still being cooked by the sizzling plate. The "10oz" steak was paper thin and because it was on a sizzling pleate, it was over cooked to a medium Well instead of the rare that I ordered. Also I think the meat is NOT AAA as advertised as it had a metallic after taste to it. Everything had a bland taste. Only the sauce that came with the steak added any flavor.
Service: Service was good as the server was attentive and nice but for a "Fine dining " establishment, they had QR code menus instead of actually physical menus and the server took the order on the pos/payment machine. It felt more like a Dennys than a Fine dining establishment.
One important thing as well about Service. Our Appetizers ,and mains came out at the same time and all with in 15 minutes of being seated. They need to pace the courses. It made us feel like it was a fast food restaurant.
Overall: i understand that it is a new restaurant and there will be growing pains and improvements needed. They focus more on presentation tha ln food quality. Steaks should not be serevd on a plate that is still cooking the steak while its being served . Its too gimmicky and not needed. Look, I want to support any restaurant that is new but I also have to let people know what the real experience I'd like.
Maybe they should be honest with themselves and the public amd advertise actual...
Read moreWe arrived a few minutes early for our 7PM Sunday nite reservation and were welcomed and seated right away. The restaurant was nearly empty at this time. Restaurant decor was nice and stylish. Due to checking the menu online prior to deciding to go to this restaurant, therefore, we were quick to review the menu. We quickly decided what we wanted so and was able to order our drinks, appetizer, and entrees all at the same time. We quickly received our glasses of water and a basket with 2 of their signature black bread rolls. The rolls were delicious. It wasn't long before we received our appetizer and one of the 2 entrees at the same time while the 2nd entree was still to come. Perplexed as to why we received one of the entrees with the appetizer, the server just shrugged her shoulders and apologized but did not offer to take back. Then, before we were able to take our first bite, the hostess and then, who I can only assume, the manager came by to ask how everything was. Told them both that we couldn't comment as we haven't had the time to take our first bite as we were a little disturbed that we received the app and 1 of 2 entrees at the same time. We told the hostess to take back the entrees until we complete the app and then bring both entrees at the same time. The hostess apologized and had the entree returned to be held in a warming shelf. She also offered a free desert as a goodwill gesture for the confusion. The appetizer (Blk signature Mussels & Hokkaido Scallops plate) was nicely presented and delicious. We received our entrees (Blk Signature 12 oz Ribeye steak and a fusion dish, Steak Sushi Platter), and we both enjoyed our meal. We then ordered our complimentary Blk Cheesecake desert from our server. When the hostess came by to ask what we wanted for our desert, we had told her we had ordered the cheesecake to share, the hostess looked surprised and then said that she would also include the Apple Blossom Pie as she said that the cheesecake slice is very small. She was not kidding. The $14 per slice was so small that I doubt it would be enough to satisfy a newborn, but it was delicious. The apple blossom pie, which also was topped with a huge ball of ice cream, was also delicious and a better value at $15. Overall, the restaurant, the hostess, and food were an enjoyable experience, but servers have to work on improving how they space out the appetizers and the entrees so that all the food does not show up at the same time. As this is a newly opened restaurant (June 2025), I would wait a few months before returning to give them time to work out their timing and also return on a Friday or Saturday to enjoy the...
