EDIT: The owner reached out to me right after I posted my original review about our unpleasant experience here. He profusely apologized for the experience and assured me that the situation was way below their standards and they offered to welcome us back so that we could enjoy a true Sandwich Society welcome. It took us some time but we were able to return today and it was indeed a significantly improved experience. We were greeted by one of the owners, who made us incredibly delicious Toscanini and Jefferino sandwiches. From the bread to the fennel pecorino spread … really really good. We also indulged in their delicious mini orange loaves for dessert. We will definitely return!

We went here today for the first time since it’s been under new ownership and, unfortunately, we probably won’t be back. (And it pains me to leave a bad review about a small business, but our experience was not good.) We entered the store just after 2:00 PM and greeted the lady behind the counter. There was no one else in the store, the trays on the counter looked empty, and the store smelled like cleaning products, so we asked the lady if they were still open, and she answered with a curt ‘yes’. We took a few minutes to decide and placed our order and paid (with a tip). The lady working there never smiled at us and hardly even made eye contact with us. The atmosphere was less than welcoming … it was bordering hostile. Because it was mid afternoon, we were just looking to get a small snack for the drive home. As the lady was finishing our sandwich, I asked her to cut the sandwich in half, and - practically under her breath - she said “we don’t usually cut this size because it’s so small”, but she turned around and cut it anyway. It’s not like we were asking to split a three course prix fixe across two plates for each course or there were a dozen higher paying customers behind us! If you didn’t want to serve us, you could have pretended you were closed when we asked. And yes, we were just splitting a small sandwich, but we’re still customers in your establishment. I can’t remember when I’ve felt so unwelcome in a small business. It’s like we were seriously encroaching on the lady’s personal space and time. We even checked Google when we got back to the car to make sure we weren’t close to closing time .. we weren’t… they closed at 5:00. The sandwich was quite good, but we honestly can’t justify going back given the horrible - and borderline...
Read morePicture this. Lunchtime, hungry, no food on-hand, on the road, thinking, “sandwiches.” Whipped out my mobile and used Google (it’s a search engine things) to find sandwich shops in Oakville. Up popped up “Sandwich Society.” Quickly checked the menu and set a course. Arrived in a trendy part of Oakville, found on-street parking and hurriedly pulled in. Walked past the lovely patio, and turned into the shop. Was met by a lovely and helpful member of the waitstaff, who twigged to the fact I was a noob. She asked the age old question, “Dine-in or take-away” and upon our response told us to find a seat and she’d be out with menus in a flash, or words to that effect. We grabbed a seat in the shade, and before we knew it, our new friend arrived with a tall, cool pitcher of water, two glasses, and a menu. Perused the menu, found many tantalizing descriptions and my dining companion decided on a Panino al pollo sandwich and I went for a Flat White, extra hot, and a San Pellegrino Limonata Italian Sparkling Fruit Beverage. The sandwich arrived, looked marvellous! Fresh-baked bread, loads of sauce and whatnot. The Flat White was great and the sparkling soda was next level. One of the most memorable beverages ever. All-in-all was a very nice experience. Will...
Read moreUse to be an amazing place under old ownership buy now its just another overpriced low quality "specialty" shop. Placed a group order for work. Almost every sandwich had quality issues with it from the bread, to the meat, cheese and produce. Considering the owners always boast about their in house bread and sourcing of products its quite sad how low the quality actually is, especially when you consider the prices. We ended up throwing the majority of it away and ordering something else in. Although the old owners were amazing the new owners are clearly underqualiffied and likely have never ran or owned their own buisness. i wouldnt be surprised if they have little to no experience in the industry itself and just decided to buy a struggling buisness as it blatantly shows. In the end your better off going to subway down the street but if you desire something slightly higher quality Aroma espresso bar is just down the street aswell and they serve a similar menu, except their prices are appropriate and the quality is what you should expect from these types of buisnesses that have the appropriate and...
