Shawarma Royale — Restaurant in Oakville

Location: 407 Iroquois Shore Rd Unit 2, Oakville, ON L6H 1M3

We decided to visit this restaurant on 27 Oct 2021, due to the positive reviews. I am so disappointed with service and food. NOT AS ADVERTISED.

While I placed and paid for the order on site, 2 order of shawarma with rice, for one of the order the rice was taken out from the large cooker by one staff even before the other staff started slicing the chicken. There were two customers behind us and they were given priority over us, they ordered and paid on site as well, obviously known to one of the staff. The customer also had a cat in his jacket which one of the staff member picked up, kissed (unsure if hands were washed) and then went back to serving our food. I thought it was against the law to bring in live animals inside the restaurant. So back to slicing a new batch of the chicken and was not browned enough making it sliced chicken not chicken shawarma. While that was going on, for the second order the rice was empty in the big pot so they brought out a plastic bag with rice in it, dumped it in and then immediately scooped up, we asked them if it was hot and they told us it was (lie! it wasn’t)…we are witnessing this but chose to be polite. Sadly, when we got home, it was not as advertised, the food (rice not seasoned, overload of garlic sauce and chili sauce, rotisserie tasting chicken) and our hard earned money was...

Was very hungry and wanted a good shawarma meal, in oakville. Normally we would drive to Vaughan or York area, knowing few great places there.

Based on google revies and being near by, decided to try this place. Really wanted to enjoy the meal, but it was one of the worst shawarmas i had in a long time. Family did not like any of their orders. Shawarma plate, kebob plate, mixed beef and lamb sandwich, fries and pops.

Dry and plain meat. To much garlic sause on everything, i guess to have some sort of texture to it, but a big fail. Sides were very basic, pickles and coleslaw. Coleslaw and Fries were okay, nothing to complain about, but also, nothing special.

No one finished even half of their orders. Left about 120$ in total for two adults and few kids. Somewhat average price, but not sure was worth at all.

The place itself, looks clean. Was not busy, few walk ins while we had our meals inside. Next door vurger place was packed and bussy, so people were out eating, just not here.

With all the honesty, i would not go there for a repeat, wont recomend to anyone who is lookong for a decent meal.... and not sure if the place will last there for a long time.

Sorry, but big fail...

I visited this location recently.

I got a negative vibe straight away as I ordered a Queen chicken meal and was told you can't order any vegetables (its just the meat) which surprised me but I switched to the Queen chicken wrap (to the eventual disappointment of my wife as she wanted "the box").

That was not a big deal on it's own but then they missed including the King fries but charged me the ~$7 for the item.

Even THAT wasn't enough to turn me away from going again, figured a quick call and they'd "make it right".

Of course they did but not before being the coldest person every when answering the phone. I basically had to force general civility with the employee/man who answered the phone, somehow I was putting him out by having the gall to call them (about whatever it may be). Having basic manners when a customer calls about a legitimate issue is not too much to ask.

If this is the mentality of the staff at this restaurant, I cannot in good conscience ever go back to this location or any other Shawarma Royale.

Good job, this was fast becoming one of my son's favourite spots and we live reasonably nearby.

You can keep my $7 because its the last money you will...
