We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights Feb 23/24. We specifically booked for the pool so the kids could swim while we got ready for our wedding. I am sure you are aware our stay was less than pleasant. This was for our wedding party/guests.
We called for early check in and were told yes. Half the party was able to check into one room. Upon arrival at 3pm, which is check in time, I was told my room was not ready. Check in was a mess, we were told on the phone by Oakville location that we could use cash deposit in place of credit card. When I tried to check in I was told no cash for deposit and despite me mentioning several times we didn’t have a credit card the woman kept asking for credit card.
I was sent up to our second room, to wait for our room to be “checked” I sat in the hall for 45 minutes with all our luggage and my wedding dress. I went back down to the desk to ask if our room was ready and I was told there was a problem with that room (420) and they were putting me in 407. When I mentioned that we had requested adjoining rooms and moving just one of us didn’t make sense, our original room (420) was somehow immediately ready. We didn’t get into our room til 4 or later and we arrived at 3.
Upon returning to the hotel after supper I was locked out of my room. I made the trip down to the lobby and they “fixed” the room key. I was still locked out. I went back down and this time was given 2 completely new cards. Again I was still locked out. At this point my daughter almost had an accident in the hall. I went down a 3rd time and as you can imagine I was not impressed. A woman came up with me and plugged her laptop in the door and we still couldn’t get in. I was in tears asking how she was going to make this right and all I got was laughed at. This took 45 minutes as the elevator was extremely busy as were the stairs with kids
The pool closed early the Friday night and was not open Saturday until the afternoon. The pool itself was absolutely disgusting in the first place. The pool itself is very small, and was not clean
The amount of unsupervised children running around and up and down the halls and in and out of the elevator at all times of day was ridiculous. There was a hockey tournament apparently and staff found it funny when people complained about the chaos.
The tv in 422 didn’t work
Me and my children being harassed by a homeless man (he propositioned the bar tender for sex) and being told by your staff that you can’t do anything about him.
While the bartender was amazing, on a Friday night the bar closed at 10pm, we had planned on having drinks with our wedding party the night before.
We spent a lot of money on those rooms, they weren’t cheap. Some of our wedding party stayed elsewhere for cheaper with more amenities and better time. We would like to know what you are going to do to make this right. Upon check out staff wouldn’t even discuss my complaints and I was...
Read moreI stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Oakville, ON on September 12th, 2014. This will be my first and last stay at this hotel. The staff there were extremely rude and unprofessional. We checked in after a long driver from Atlanta, GA at 5am and I asked for a late check out so my wife could work while I attended my meetings. I was told late check out was 2pm and anything after that would be billed at $30 per hour. I agreed that was fine. At 2pm sharp my wife called and said they kicked her out of the room. She pleaded that she was working and needed to finish up a few contracts but was told she had to be out right away or security would be up to escort her out. She called me and I had to leave my meeting and drive over to pick her and our dog up while they waited outside. When I confronted the front desk manager about it she advised there was nothing she could do. In the morning we both came down for breakfast at 9:30am. The waitress asked if we had our meal vouchers, I said they must be in the key holder in the room as I just assumed breakfast was included. She said she needed them NOW. I politely told her we were eating and I would check the room after we finished. She proceeded to check with the front desk and came back advising us our breakfast was not included and gave us a bill. As I was only having a coffee I decided that if they were going to charge me for two full buffet breakfasts I may as well take something to go. One of the waitresses gave me a take out container. When I was putting my take out together our waitress came over and told me I could not take food to go in a very rude manner. At this point I had enough of her miserable attitude and said I would talk to her manager. She went and got her manager right away who came over and all spoke very rudely to me in front of several other guests saying I could not take food. This was very embarrassing to both myself and my wife as it made us look like homeless vagabonds not the respectable business executives that we are.
I am at a loss on what to actually do after this belittling experience at the hands of an extremely rude and disgusting staff. We are both professional hard working people and were thoroughly disgusted that we would be treated this...
Read moreMy experience at this hotel was awful and I would give my review zero stars if that were an option. The tub was clogged with hair from previous visitors and could be seen all over the walls and facet area. The water pressure came out very shallow and cold in temperature. The serviette to blow your nose was placed directly behind the toilet near the area we all access to flush, which exposes it to the fecal germs of others. The entire room was also very dirty and made lounging around very uncomfortable. Additionally, the rooms had no microwave and required guests to go to the main floor of the hotel, around the reception desk area to warm up their food. Directly outside of each room were piles of dirty plates and towels from other guests that were just left on the floor in the hallway for several hours. The explanation I was given was that, COVID prevented staff from entering each room, so that’s why they required guests to leave their waste outside the door. Normally I wouldn’t make such a fuss about something like this but the dirty plates, utensils and laundry were left directly on the floor in front of each room and not in any sort of bin or hamper. This made walking by to get into my room very uncleanly, as I had to actively avoid stepping on someone else’s dirty forks and half eaten pieces of food. The dirty laundry from other guests also, understandably, had an odour to them which permeated over several hours of being in the hallway.
Another issue I had with this hotel was their inability to inform guests of hidden fees. For example, guests are charged an additional $28 for watching tv. This can be something as simple as watching the local news for a few minutes one night and your credit card will be charged $28. Additionally, unlike most hotels, guests are required to pay $15 if they choose to have breakfast in the morning. The breakfast consists of cold eggs, two sausages, stale croissants and coffee.
For all those considering a stay at this hotel, please be mindful that they will charge your credit card for everything you touch. Please don’t use the tv to avoid the $28 charge and prepackage snacks beforehand to skip the $15 breakfast fee. Best of luck and bring bathroom slippers because the floor has...
