We went for Mother’s Day dinner based on the positive reviews, but unfortunately, we were very disappointed. Although we had reservations and were seated quickly, it took an unreasonably long time for anyone to take our order. The owner seemed more focused on managing pick-up orders than attending to dine-in guests. I actually had to get up and make myself visible to prompt him to take our order.
The food arrived relatively quickly, but three out of the four dishes we ordered were underwhelming. The fresh rolls, which contained chicken, mango, mint, lettuce, and rice paper, were indeed fresh but completely lacked flavor. The accompanying peanut sauce was bland and barely tasted of peanut.
The mango salad was the only dish we truly enjoyed—it was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. On the other hand, the basil beef was very disappointing. The ingredients didn’t seem fresh at all, and the chicken tasted old. I was also surprised to find what looked like frozen green beans in the dish—definitely not what you expect from a quality Asian meal.
The Pad Thai was just as lackluster, with only three shrimp and three small pieces of chicken. It was mostly plain rice noodles with little flavor or balance.
Honestly, I hesitate to even give this place two stars. I'm not sure what others are rating, but it certainly doesn't reflect the quality of the food we received. It makes me wonder if the ratings are manipulated—but at least on Yelp, reviews are authentic and...
Read moreI am a lover of Thai food and my friend and I were so excited to try this place. I had heard some good things and the place was busy when we went to go eat.
Pros: The service was very friendly and the place was clean. No complaints there! The cost is very reasonable for a meal
Cons: The food was below average and the friend I went with ended up getting food poisoning unfortunately so we likely won’t be back. This is a pity because the high ratings for this place made us very excited to try it.
We had the pad Thai, chicken satay, dumplings, green curry, and coconut rice. The dumplings were dry and under seasoned, the green curry was thin and the zucchini was mushy and unappetizing, the chicken was flavourless, however the flavour was average and I did enjoy the babmboo shoots. My friend said the pad Thai was average but less flavourful and saucy than your average. The satay did taste good. However this may have lead to food poisoning because my friend ended up being up all night wrapped around the toilet and it was either the chicken satay or the pad thai.
TL;DR, decent atmosphere, cost and service, not great food experience and one of us got food poisoning. Giving 3 stars simply bc I don’t want to decimate a local business’s star rating but would like others to be aware of the food...

Siam Thai has been our go-to Thai food place for many years - before, during, and after the pandemic. It would not be an exaggeration to say Siam Thai is one of the best Thai restaurants in the Greater Toronto Area, not only because of the food but the life philosophy behind it.
First the food. The dishes that we have tried and can recommend include
Thai Mango Salad, with just the right mix of ingredients - 9/10 Chicken with Red (or Green) Curry - 8/10 Pad Thai with Chicken and Shrimp - 9/10
Over and above the food, it is the philosophy that endears this place. Firstly, the restaurant is open only from 4-9 pm 5 days a week (with a full two days (including Sunday) off for the staff and owners). Secondly, the place is closed for about a month each year when the owners (and staff) get their holidays. These both are signs of an establishment that values their staff more than money. Kudos to Syed and his team for that!
Verdict: Highly recommended.
