I would like to clarify at the beginning of this review, that I am a regular at Yame Sushi, but I only go on the weekends (both lunch and dinner). Thus, my review reflects the service and food served on the weekends only.
I have tried several all-you-can-eat sushi joints around Oakville, and Yame Sushi is the most consistent with regards to food quality and service, hands-down.
The service: The girls who serve at this establishment know English as a second language, but in the several years that I've been going here, they have NEVER once messed up my order, or have forgotten anything from my order. Considering how orders at AYCE sushi establishments can usually lead to confusion or mistakes (due to language barriers and volume of food being order), I find it quite impressive that these girls never miss a beat. I should mention they are quite friendly as well.
The food: You might be able to find better sushi at other sushi restaurants, but compared to other AYCE sushi restaurants in Oakville, Yame Sushi has the best and most consistent quality food. I would strongly recommend trying the special house rolls on the menu. Also, it is the only sushi restaurant that I've found that serves a rainbow sushi pizza. The sushi pizza here also seems to be fresher than other AYCE sushi restaurants.
The location: The decor here is modest, but functional. It can handle large groups without issue. Tables and washrooms are always clean. There is a washroom on the main level, but unknown to most, there is also one downstairs if you are in dire need.
The only thing that this place does not have is the iPad ordering functionality that has become more and more popular at AYCE sushi joints. The absence of iPads does not concern me though, because the servers are quite exceptional and I don't see the need for them if my orders are perfect every time.
In conclusion, you might be able to find better sushi elsewhere, but you won't be able to find a better AYCE sushi anywhere else in the Oakville area. This place is...
Read moreMy fiancé and I were in Oakville so we decided to try this sushi place out after reading good reviews on Google. We have eaten sushi all over Ontario. We're from St. Catharines and we normally frequent Wind or August 8 in Hamilton. The menu for lunch is smaller than Wind or August 8 and doesn't have as much variety as these two places. If you want more Thai, go to Wind. If you want more Dim Sum, go to August 8.
In our experience, for authentic Japanese menu items (some Thai curry was there as well) this is the place to go. I was really happy that they had things like Chicken Katsu for an AYCE appetizer as I normally only eat Chicken Katsu at Amakara in St. Catharines (which is not AYCE Japanese cuisine).
The ambiance was very nice. We got to pick our booth by the window. We ordered edamame, seaweed salad (bigger portion than we are used to which was great), Japanese Curry Rice bowl with Chicken (AMAZING!!!) and a selection of rolls. Our favorite roll was the Spicy White Tuna Roll.
The taste of the sushi, curry and chicken teriyaki was absolutely amazing. We really loved everything that we had and we would definitely drive to Oakville for sushi here in the future. The portions were bigger than Wind and August 8 and the sashimi was thicker. We don't want to go to other places we normally eat at because the sushi tasted so good.
The service was also prompt and the waitresses were very polite. Overall, we had...

I recently had the misfortune of dining at this sushi establishment, and let me tell you, it was an absolute disaster! The restaurant itself looks like it hasn't seen a renovation since the early 2000s, with worn-out seats and tables that might as well be antiques. But the real horror began with the food.
The sushi platter I ordered was a disaster, both visually and gastronomically. The fish had a suspicious odor, and the rice was dry and tasteless. I took a brave bite of the salmon sashimi, and my taste buds revolted! It tasted like the fish had been left out in the sun for days. I'm surprised I didn't end up with food poisoning!
The chefs clearly have no respect for the art of sushi making, and the management seems to prioritize profit over customer satisfaction and health. I wouldn't be surprised if they source their seafood from the bottom of the barrel.
If you value your health and taste buds, stay away from this sushi joint! I'd rather eat week-old roadkill than subject myself to their so-called 'fresh' fish again. Save your money and your stomach's sanity by avoiding Yame Sushi at all costs!"
Feel free to spread the word and save unsuspecting sushi lovers from this...
