Asian Gourmet — Restaurant in Ontario

Preface: There are two Asian buffet-style restaurants in this food court, and one of them isn't as good as this one.

I often eat here and it's the highlight of my day. It might be because I always approach in a friendly manner or I'm a repeat customer, but the people here are always very friendly deliver some real great food, granted I'm always asking for chicken.

If you get the timing right during the lunch rush you can get some of the best chicken around. Unfortunately, the rate that customers come through varies a lot. There are often groups that come through the city on busses that stop by here for lunch and rapid influx of customers causes turnover of the food to rise drastically, so of course at those times you'll get fresher food but it's very difficult to tell when those groups come in. I'm sorry to say but this place is far far away from being decent. The fried rice tastes as if a whole can of soy sauce was dumped in it. The general tao tastes like someone dumped the whole bag of sugar into it and the noodles were stale. I asked for half rice and half noodles and what I got was barely any rice and barely any noodles. The cost of the food is not on par with other locations and on top of this you get sub par food. The food also tastes a bit off which is unsettling. This place needs to be visited by local health authorities as it looks like food is not being stored correctly or is being exposed for too long.

We have eaten at Asian Gourmet quite a few times now when we visit Quite Mall. The food is good for mall Chinese food. The main issue with them is that there is no standard amount they give everyone. Some servers seem to decide how much you want or should eat and portion accordingly. At first we thought this was coincedence but today same thing, drastically different amount of food in my son's portion compared to mine.
