I’m a vegetarian, went to Cobblestone Public House excited to try their new plant based protein curry dish with my sister last week on Thursday, May 23, 2019. I’ve been to this restaurant in the past and had an awesome experience so I was also excited to show my sister the location. As we arrived there early afternoon, we were welcomed by a blonde hostess, she didn't seem the happiest as she brought us to a table gave us our menus and then said nothing else and left. Waitress came, seemed nice and we gave our order. My sister ordered the lunch chicken quesadilla and I the plant based curry on rice. Soon after our food arrived my sister took a bite of her food and was a little shocked that the veggies were raw, and that there was a lot including green pepper which she dislikes. So she asked for a new one without the pepper (oops!). Then while my sister waited around for her food, I was starting to enjoy my curry dish that was yummy and stuffed with veggies. Then I was about to take another bite and guess what I found? Ummmm these chunks of chicken in it!!!! I was horrified, my sister came to the rescue and made sure the waitress was aware right away. She came over and apologized and went right to the kitchen to order me a new one. Then my sister was served her new quesadilla without peppers but was still very disappointed as it seemed they just put a lot of raw red onion on it in place of the pepper and there was hardly any chicken (attached picture) ! That is not how a quesadilla is made! We’ve both have kitchen experience and no place would ever serve that to their customers! After this awful experience we both lost our appetites and no longer even wanted our food so decided to just get take out containers. The waitress covered my food bill but my poor sister couldn’t even eat her food and could only taste onions and peppers the rest of the day! We left a review on facebook before we left as that is what reviews are for, and the waitress returned and tried to buy us out so that we’d take our review down, and continued to be rude and tried to argue with us. We had a bad experience therefore a negative review was made. That’s fair. Ruined both our day! We went home read their recent reviews not on facebook and guess what many people recently have had the same exact experience we had that day! I can’t even trust the remake food that they made me as I don’t want to consume any animals. :( Worst restaurant experience ever, and huge waste of a day! Please don’t blame your customers, that is the first thing you learn about customer service! Have a nice day and I hope things improve for your restaurant soon!
P.S. Unfortunately my sister recently was forced to remove her facebook review. As the waitress/general manager we were served by continued to harass her by getting her friend/close clients to leave nasty comments on the review! Very unprofessional and we no longer ever want to return :( We will be sure share our experience with other locals! I hope no one else has to...
Read moreWhen we first stepped in, and were greeted by a hostess and a newbie in training with the loveliest smiles, I knew this was going to be good. Now, I will say first, the website said something to the effect that they don't take special requests with seating preferences and I get that, I bet in the summer the outdoor patio(s?) are packed! This was a winter night and a Tuesday at that. It was packed! Not a soul on the street in this calm quiet little town. I think everyone was in here for dinner! The backroom was filled with a table of men that were loud and having a great time but they quietened down when their food arrived .. LOL. Nevertheless, we asked if we could sit in a booth closer to the front. (Hey, it was our 20th Wedding Anniversary celebration and this escape to Paris, Ontario, was about romance ... and a few good meals.). They obliged and a booth was perfect for us lovebirds.
I ordered a banana pineapple drink that was very good. When the fruit slice topping is freshly cut, you know you're in for a treat. The hubby ordered a turkey brie club sandwich with cesear salad and I ordered an apple brie burger with onion rings. As this escape was all about sharing/caring; I shared my dinner and he enjoyed part of mine too. Both meals were superb! Seems like a small thing to some but when a burger shows up and the bun isn't squished with a finger print by the cook, that makes me happy. The condiments were bang on perfect. It was picture perfect! You know when you bite into an onion ring and it pulls apart? These didn't do that and they weren't greasy so that was a WIN! Too full for dessert but they had a Sticky Toffee Pudding and my followers now I love a good STP! So, we will be back this summer on our motorcycle to enjoy the patio and I'll save room for dessert!
The waitresses were all very attentive, even the staff behind the cooks counter wished us well as we were leaving. Well done,...

Chose this pub for lunch while killing time in the area and, well, I’m beyond happy!
I looked at the menus online for some other restaurants in the area and chose this place because so many things sounded amazing, nice touch adding a label to menu items that are staff favourites!
While I chose the Bacon, Brie and apple burger and it wasn’t labelled a staff favourite it did come recommended by Lauren. I was advised by a friend the pickle fries are great and didn’t see them the first time I read the menu but boy are they tasty!
Burger break down: Patty was perfect, cooked just right and had a great flavour. The crunch from the lettuce, onions, and apple was amazing. I loved how well the onions, apple, Brie, and bbq sauce flavour profiled together! The bacon just added that extra little flavour that anyone can agree should be mandatory on a burger. The bun was up for the job! It didn’t fall apart while eating nor was it too much. There was no mess in my hands while eating from too much of anything, the burger was absolutely perfect!
Pickle fries: Their fresh house cut fries are so good! The dill pickle seasoning they’re tossed in combined with the ranch sauce and shredded pickle on top rounds this out as a side with perfection. They don’t cheap out and give you a small portion of fries but they don’t overload you either. Very good job of having a proportional side to the main that was out of the park delicious!
5/5 and definitely will return. The other menu items are undoubtably as great as the burger (there’s clearly a lot of favourites) and I cannot wait to try other things.
Thank you Lauren for your recommendation and thank you to the cook who made this...
